The Judge Group is seeking a mechanically inclined engineer to lead hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of electro-mechanical systems in Saint Paul, MN. The role supports production activities, DFMs, and documentation packages for contract manufacturing partners.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with Creo experience and strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills, and must be able to obtain FAA Part 107 certification within three months.

Job description

Duration: 24 months with possible extension
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of electro-mechanical systems and subassemblies.
  • Support product builds, box-level integration, and wired assembly activities.
  • Conduct fault diagnosis, debugging, troubleshooting, and repair of assemblies and systems.
  • Program circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and perform system-level checkout and verification testing.
  • Execute optical assembly, alignment, calibration, and focusing procedures.
  • Participate in flight testing activities and document test results.
  • Ensure timely completion of production orders and adherence to manufacturing schedules.
  • Support production planning activities and maintain adequate material availability for manufacturing operations.
  • Implement design updates and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute technical documentation packages for third-party and contract manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to define enclosure requirements, connector configurations, indicators, and user interfaces for electronic assemblies.
  • Investigate product failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards and are delivered free from defects.
  • Facilitate the transition of engineering designs into production and support ongoing design maintenance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing production defects and increasing manufacturing efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison between engineering and production teams regarding design changes, technical documentation, engineering drawings, and product updates.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for contract manufacturers and manage all technical data packages associated with assembly production.
  • Coordinate and implement change management processes involving both internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners.
  • Review, facilitate, and ensure compliance with Quality Assurance processes across manufacturing operations.
  • Provide technical recommendations and support for both new product development and existing product enhancements.
  • Prioritize support for production assembly activities to meet customer delivery commitments.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum one year of experience using PTC Creo for mechanical design and documentation.
  • Ability to obtain FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification within three months of employment.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical requirements and work independently.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and manufacturing environments.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, estimate effort, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, documentation skills, and organizational abilities.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems, drones, aerospace, robotics, or sensor technologies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and engineering change management.
  • Experience supporting contract manufacturers and production-scale assembly operations.
  • Familiarity with optical systems, camera integration, and precision alignment processes.
