Job summary

Platform Aerospace in Hollywood, MD is seeking a Production Control Technician to coordinate daily manufacturing schedules and ensure on-time delivery. You will act as a liaison across Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Inventory Control, and Manufacturing Operations.

The ideal candidate will monitor WIP, identify constraints, and support planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in production control, manufacturing, or related environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor schedules, WIP, and work in process to support on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Inventory Control to resolve issues.
  • Support production planning, workload prioritization, and capacity planning.
  • Provide schedule updates and recovery plans, and escalate risks.
  • Maintain and report key production metrics and KPI.
  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Summary

The Production Control Technician supports daily manufacturing operations by coordinating production activities to help ensure schedules, quality standards, and customer delivery commitments are met. This role serves as a key liaison between Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Inventory Control, and Manufacturing Operations.

The Production Control Technician monitors work orders, work in process (WIP), and material availability; identifies production constraints; and helps ensure products move efficiently through the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced aerospace/UAS manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor production schedules, work orders, and work in process (WIP) to support on-time delivery and identify production constraints.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Inventory Control to resolve technical issues, nonconformances, inspection holds, and material shortages impacting production.
  • Support production planning, workload prioritization, and capacity planning activities.
  • Provide schedule updates, **escalate** risks, and support production meetings with accurate status reports and recovery plans.
  • Verify manufacturing documentation is accurate, complete, and available to support production activities.
  • Expedite critical materials and hardware required to meet production schedules.
  • Support HazMat tracking and compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Maintain and report key production metrics, including schedule adherence, on-time delivery, throughput, labor efficiency, and WIP status.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve production flow and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and/or required.
Basic Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and 2-5 years of experience in production control, manufacturing, production planning, operations, or a related environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Business, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting UAV or aerospace manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience supporting Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and configuration management processes.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, material planning, and production scheduling.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
    • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
    • Ability to distinguish differences in wire and indicator light colors.
    • Operation of hand and power tools.
    • Lifting, carrying, and/or moving tools, equipment, and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Working in confined spaces and around aircraft.
    • Ascending and descending ladders or stairs as required.
