Job summary

SDM Composites in Santa Clarita, CA, is seeking a Production Support Operator to help maintain efficient manufacturing. You will clean parts, mark components, package, deburr and grind as required, and operate tumblers and sand blasters.

Candidates should have basic math skills, able to read instructions, use micrometers and calipers, and input data into a terminal. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with 1–3 months manufacturing experience encouraged.

Qualifications

• Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to use micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to input data into a computer terminal.
• Neat penmanship for completing Manufacturing Plans.

Responsibilities

• Clean parts, perform part marking and packaging, deburr and/or grind parts using files, grinding wheels, tumblers and deburring cloths.
• Must be able to get along with others.
• Must be able to work scheduled shifts and meet attendance requirements; flexible to stay late or adjust hours for production deadlines.
• Must work safely and comply with safety rules and procedures.
• Follow lean philosophy and practice 6S daily.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

A Production Support Operator will perform a variety of production support functions including cleaning parts, part marking, packaging, deburring and/or grinding parts, operating a tumbler and a sand blaster. The stock material may consist of aluminum, stainless steel, polyimide or phenolic, fiber glass, composite material, titanium, brass, and copper.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

• In accordance with instructions on Manufacturing Plan, will clean parts, perform part marking and packaging, deburr and/or grind parts using file, grinding wheel, tumbler and deburring cloth.
• Must be able to get along well with others.
• Must be able to work scheduled shift and meet company attendance requirements; must be flexible enough to stay late or modify work hours on short notice, if production deadlines require it.
• Must be able to perform the job safely; must comply with company safety rules and procedures.
• Must follow the lean philosophy and practice the 6 S’s on a daily basis
• Additional Duties, as assigned.
