Job description

PlanIT Group is seeking a Production Support Analyst to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working across designated teams to ensure applications are fully available to all stakeholders and customers. This individual will assist development teams in deployments, routine patching, and system application monitoring/troubleshooting. Will analyze and evaluate complex data file processing, help translate customer reporting requirements, create reports, and provide application testing and validations. Will lead incident response calls and contribute/create after action reports.


Job Title: Production Support Analyst
Location: Remote
Start Date: 03/03/25
Duration: One year plus annual extensions

Overview:
The Production Support Analyst is responsible for working across designated teams to ensure applications are fully available to all stakeholders and customers. This individual will assist development teams in deployments, routine patching, and system application monitoring/troubleshooting. Will analyze and evaluate complex data file processing, help translate customer reporting requirements, create reports, and provide application testing and validations. Will lead incident response calls and contribute/create after action reports.

Required Skills/Experience:
  1. Strong working knowledge of SQL. Ability to understand and write complex SQL using select statements, views, joins, indexing and to create report data.
  2. Demonstrated experience using UNIX commands to manage production Linux servers, including creation and maintenance of shell scripts to manage application maintenance activities.
  3. Demonstrated experience using SQL query on Oracle Databases to perform Database lookups.

Strong knowledge of one or more of the following:
  1. Incident Management – Ability to lead as a Critical Incident Manager to restore production applications impacting events.
  2. Ability to quickly respond to system alerting to reduce application downtime to customers.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to effectively work directly with stakeholders, executives, and technical staff.
  4. Effective liaison between business and technical teams.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of terminology, usage, and operating characteristics of hardware, software, and operating system components.
  6. Strong facilitation skills to effectively lead Production Support Application Monitoring in real-time.

Desired experience using:
  1. Agile methodologies, Version One, ServiceNow, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), logging tools such as Splunk Enterprise, monitoring tools such as Neustar and AppDynamics.
  2. Experience with cloud monitoring tools such as GCP Cloud Monitoring (Stackdriver) is a plus.

Additional Required Skills/Experience:
  1. A minimum of thirteen (13) years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years of experience in Web-based design/development.
  2. A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science.
  3. Able to perform all functional duties independently.
  4. Experience training/mentoring less experienced personnel.
  5. Moderate knowledge of and experience with designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining complex Web-based software systems.
  6. Moderate experience developing/supporting software applications using Java and more than one of these software technologies: Active Server Pages (ASP), JavaScript, Oracle DBMS, SQL Server DBMS, Visual Basic, JavaScript, MS Access, HTML.
  7. Moderate experience collaborating with end users to define new Web-based software system requirements.
  8. Experience authoring or contributing to software-related documentation such as requirements specifications, design documents, technical manuals, and user manuals.
  9. Able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  10. Excellent communication skills.

Additional Provisions:
  1. Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  2. Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check, and credit check.
  3. All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident/Green Card required.
  4. Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  5. Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
