Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Production Supervisor for its Denton, TX Facility. The supervisor will lead a crew, applying leadership, operations experience and strong communication to drive change opportunities around people, processes and systems.

The candidate should prioritize safety as a value, demonstrate manufacturing excellence and quality, and possess interpersonal and technical skills to lead transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

• One year or more of supervising employees in a manufacturing, production, industrial or military environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Responsibilities

• Lead an operating team while ensuring safety, health, environmental and quality.
• Promote the PBM philosphy within the team.
• Drive safety through promoting employee involvement, ownership and accountability to identify hazards and mitigate risks; investigate incidents and help resolve causes.
• Coach, train, and develop operations personnel in safety, quality and production.
• Ensure best practices to minimize waste at machine centers.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure quality and on-time production.
• Plan, assign and direct work for all hourly production employees; appraise performance, resolve complaints, and communicate issues daily.

What You Will Do

• Lead an operating team in compliance in safety, health, environmental, and quality.
• Foster a culture based on our Principle Based Management (PBM®) Philosophy.
• Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigating strategies; investigate incidents and participate in resolution of causes.
• Coach, train, and develop operations personnel in safety, quality, and production.
• Ensure best practices are followed for minimization of waste at machine centers.
• Address key issues and concerns and interact with employees from other departments to ensure quality, on-time production.
• Plan, assign and direct work for all hourly production employees; appraise performance and provide feedback as needed; assist in resolving complaints; hold employees accountable as needed; communicate issues and results on a daily basis.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• One (1) year or more of supervising employees within an manufacturing, production, industrial OR military environment.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Experience working in the corrugated packaging/containerboard industry on a corrugator.
• Experience working with KIWI application.
