Job summary

The Production Supervisor will oversee the Screw Machine Department at Hubbell Incorporated, directing daily operations to ensure safety, quality, on-time delivery, and efficient use of resources.

The role requires Lean manufacturing leadership, 6-10 years of experience, and the ability to coach operators, setup staff, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Materials teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of relevant experience (required).
• 6+ years of leadership experience preferred.
• Prior production leadership experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment (required).
• Knowledge and use of Lean Manufacturing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct daily operations of the Screw Machine Department to achieve production, quality, delivery, and safety objectives.
• Plan and assign work to operators, setup personnel, and support staff to maximize equipment utilization and labor efficiency.
• Monitor machine performance, production rates, tooling requirements, and setup activities to ensure adherence to production schedules.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Material Control teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operational performance.
• Maintain compliance with quality standards and support corrective and preventive actions related to product nonconformance.
• Promote and enforce compliance with company policies, safety standards, housekeeping requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.

The Production Supervisor will have responsibility for the Screw Machine Department, overseeing the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing processes utilizing:

• Acme Gridley multi-spindle screw machines
• Davenport multi-spindle screw machines
• Swiss-style CNC lathes

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinate and direct daily operations of the Screw Machine Department to achieve production, quality, delivery, and safety objectives.
• Plan and assign work to operators, setup personnel, and support staff to maximize equipment utilization and labor efficiency.
• Monitor machine performance, production rates, tooling requirements, and setup activities to ensure adherence to production schedules.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Material Control teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operational performance.
• Ensure proper machine setup, tooling selection, preventive maintenance, and process control for Acme, Davenport, production lathe, and Swiss lathe operations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing principles, including waste reduction, workflow improvements, setup reduction, and standardization of processes.
• Maintain compliance with quality standards and support corrective and preventive actions related to product nonconformance.
• Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for increased productivity, reduced scrap, and improved machine efficiency.
• Train, coach, and develop employees on equipment operation, safety procedures, quality requirements, and departmental expectations.
• Promote and enforce compliance with company policies, safety standards, housekeeping requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Communicate production status, capacity constraints, equipment issues, and staffing needs to management.
