JOB DESCRIPTION
The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations within our hydraulic, lube, and fuel filtration production facility. This role leads a team of 8–10 production associates while ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and safety expectations are met. Key duties include, but are not limited to:
Production Supervision & Execution
- Supervise daily production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time completion of work
- Assign and prioritize work to meet production schedules and customer demands
- Monitor production output and adjust staffing or workflow in real time
- Ensure proper staffing alignment to meet workload requirements
- Escalate production risks or constraints to the Production Manager
Workforce Leadership & Accountability
- Directly supervise and lead 8–10 production associates
- Set and enforce expectations for safety, quality, and productivity
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Training & Development
- Train and cross-train employees on equipment, processes, and standard work
- Ensure understanding of job expectations, safety procedures, and quality standards
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate additional training
- Reinforce adherence to standard operating procedures
Quality & Manufacturing Standards
- Ensure all products meet quality specifications and customer requirements
- Monitor processes to prevent defects and maintain consistency
- Partner with quality teams to resolve root causes of issues
- Enforce inspection procedures and documentation practices
Equipment Troubleshooting & Uptime
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime
- Coordinate with maintenance for complex repairs
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to long-term solutions
- Support basic equipment care and operator-level maintenance
Continuous Improvement & Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste
- Optimize workflow, labor allocation, and throughput
- Support Lean initiatives such as 6S, standard work, and visual management
Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
- Enforce all safety policies and PPE requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Address unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with production leadership, quality, and maintenance teams
- Communicate production status, priorities, and issues across shifts
- Provide feedback on capacity, staffing, and workflow constraints
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical training or coursework in manufacturing or industrial technology preferred
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing or production environments
- 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience required
- Experience in job shop or small-to-mid-size manufacturing preferred
- Exposure to hydraulic or engineered products is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Extended standing and walking on the production floor
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs. (occasionally more)
- Frequent bending, stooping, and repetitive motion
- Exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
- Occasional extended hours to support production needs
