Job summary

Armstrong World Industries in Macon, GA, is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead a ~20‑person crew in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting. You will coach staff, manage schedules, and drive safety, quality and efficiency improvements.

Responsibilities include implementing Lean Six Sigma initiatives, coordinating with maintenance and engineering, and ensuring uptime and cost reduction targets. A strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Recent work experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to organize, prioritize and execute tasks aligned to business objectives.
• Proven ability to implement change in manufacturing/maintenance systems.
• Basic computer proficiency with email and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations (Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Energy Isolation, Machine Safeguarding).
• Proven incident investigation skills using structured tools (Root Cause, 5 Whys).
• Ability and willingness to work different shifts.

Responsibilities

• Leads, manages, hires, and trains a production crew of about 20 employees.
• Promotes and ensures a safe work environment, training crew and adhering to policies.
• Ensures production goals are met including yield, throughput, and quality.
• Participates in continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and other tools.
• Meets objectives for Plant Reliability measures (% uptime, line rate, scrap rate).
• Ensures equipment maintenance and optimization, training crew and troubleshooting.
• Prepares daily production schedules and ensures schedule adherence.
• Works with maintenance and engineering to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
