Position Overview:

The Cutting/Sewing Supervisor will lead and manage the daily operations of the cutting and sewing department. This role involves overseeing team members, ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining quality standards, and coordinating with other departments to support overall production goals. The Cutting/Sewing Supervisor is responsible for process improvements, workforce management, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership: Supervise and provide direction to cutting and sewing team members, ensuring they meet production and quality goals.
2. Production Planning: Coordinate daily and weekly work schedules to ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion of orders.
3. Quality Assurance: Monitor cutting and sewing processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to company standards, making adjustments as needed.
4. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and implement best practices in cutting and sewing operations.
5. Training & Development: Train and mentor team members to improve skills and enhance productivity.
6. Inventory Management: Ensure adequate inventory of fabrics, threads, and other materials required for production.
7. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and proper use of cutting and sewing machinery, coordinating with maintenance as needed.
8. Compliance & Safety: Ensure that team members follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
9. Collaboration: Work closely with cross functional teams to resolve issues and maintain smooth operations.
10. Reporting: Track and report key performance metrics, including production output, defect rates, and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in cutting and sewing preferred.
2. Proven experience in a supervisory role within a cutting/sewing production environment.
3. Strong knowledge of cutting and sewing techniques, fabrics, and industrial sewing machines.
4. Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team to achieve production goals.
5. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
6. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
7. Basic proficiency in computer applications, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
8. Knowledge of safety standards and compliance requirements in a manufacturing setting.

Physical Requirements:

The Cutting/Sewing Supervisor at Gasser Chair is expected to perform job duties in a manufacturing environment. The role requires standing, walking, and moving around the production area for extended periods. The supervisor must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs when necessary and work in various environmental conditions, including noise, heat, and cold. Regular use of hand tools and industrial sewing machines is required.
