How You Will Make Contributions That Matter...
The Production Supervisor directly supervises production employees to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing product and employee complaints, and resolving problems. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws.
- Works with plant management and other supervisory staff to assign, direct, review, and monitor work of supervised staff to maximize productivity in the plant.
- Ensures proper procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, and compliance with guidelines.
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments to machines.
- Coordinates production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of production run assignments.
- Evaluates production needs for daily duty assignments; establishes or adjusts work procedures accordingly.
- Completes all assigned paperwork, including production/packaging records, sanitation lists, schedules, accident reports, and investigations.
- Coordinates and conducts employee training (job, safety, etc.) and monitors work performance.
- Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work issues.
- Maintains time and production records as required.
- Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities across departments.
- Provides supervision of employees in scheduling and daily activities, including hiring, feedback, disciplinary actions, and performance management. May participate in grievance and contract discussions if applicable.
- Ensures consistent application of company policies and procedures, supporting disciplinary actions in partnership with HR.
- Promotes safety programs and policies to reduce incidents and near-misses.
- Trains and instructs employees on production and equipment standards and processes, enforcing policies related to employees.
- Performs managerial planning, organizing, evaluating, and delegating responsibilities.
- Adheres to the Saputo code of ethics and values.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate’s degree in Operations Management or equivalent experience.
- One to three years of supervisory experience in a food packaging environment preferred.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Experience with Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer applications.
- Ability to follow sanitation and quality policies, report deficiencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail.
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop a team.
- Understanding of cost containment and budgeting principles.
- Flexibility to work weekends and support plant operations.
- This is a day shift position, working 6am-6:30pm on a 2-2-3 schedule.
