Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking a 3rd shift production supervisor to oversee personnel, safety, productivity, quality and on-time delivery. The role requires leading a manufacturing team, maintaining an OSHA-compliant environment and coordinating with HR for disciplinary actions.

Key duties include staff development, scheduling, attendance tracking, and SAP-based inventory/production recording while maintaining lean operations and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Management or related field preferred.
  • Lean training is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; SAP experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment in line with OSHA and Hubbell requirements.
  • Provide effective employee relations and mentorship.
  • Make employment decisions and manage staffing; address issues with union input.
  • Ensure shift schedule alignment and presence on the production floor (75% of shift).
  • Oversee attendance records in E-time and production data in SAP.

Job Overview

Responsible for all aspects of the production operation: personnel, safety, productivity, quality and on-time delivery to customers for the assigned operation. This will be a 3rd shift position, working the following hours 10:30pm - 6:30am. #LI-BB2

A Day In The Life
  • 1. Maintain safe working environment consistent with OSHA and Hubbell Corporate requirements.
  • 2. Ensure effective employee relations.
  • 3. Provide employee mentorship and development.
  • 4. Make employment decisions.
  • 5. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution and working with union representation.
  • 6. Ensure schedule alignment; department employees are present at the beginning of each shift and in work areas.
  • 7. Ensure manning is in agreement with the scheduled priority.
  • 8. Balance quality, effectivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
  • 9. Work towards Continuous Improvement.
  • 10. Supervise employee development including: training, procedural and JSA alignment.
  • 11. Perform investigations for safety including: near misses, first aides and OSHA issues.
  • 12. Recommend actions to prevent reoccurrences of incidents.
  • 13. Coordinate with Human Resources and operations manager any disciplinary actions which might be required.
  • 14. Spend 75% of shift on the production floor in assigned department.
  • 15. Leadership: ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • 16. Supervision: including employee hiring and retention, performance reviews, disciplinary actions and shift reports.
  • 17. Run and maintain attendance records in E-time.
  • 18. Inventory management and production recording in SAP

EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

  • * High School Diploma
  • * Previous leadership role in manufacturing environment; Supervisory experience.

PREFERRED:

  • * Bachelor's Degree in Management or other related program
  • * Lean training
  • * Proficiency in MS Office; SAP a plus

LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING:

  • 1. Recommendation of staffing requirements based on sales forecast.
  • 2. Shared/recommended decisions concerning capital expenditures.
