Job summary

Cambridge Valley Machining, Inc. is seeking a Production Supervisor to direct daily CNC manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will lead, coach, and develop production staff while fostering teamwork and continuous improvement. The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing, 2+ years in supervision, and strong communication; familiarity with ERP/MRP and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Description

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating daily manufacturing operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely production of quality products. This position provides day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to production employees while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The Production Supervisor partners with Quality, Engineering, Programming, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other functional areas to resolve production issues, improve operational performance, and meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership:
  • Supervise, coach, and develop production employees to achieve departmental goals.
  • Communicate performance expectations and provide timely feedback and coaching.
  • Address employee performance expectations, attendance, conduct, and policy compliance in accordance with company policies.
  • Support employee training, onboarding, cross-training, and development activities.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
Production Operations:
  • Direct daily production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
  • Monitor production schedules, staffing levels, workflow, machine utilization, and labor resources.
  • Coordinate production priorities and respond to changing customer or operational requirements.
  • Identify and elevate equipment, staffing, material, or process constraints.
  • Maintain accurate production records and required documentation.
Communication & Collaboration:
  • Serve as a liaison between production and support departments, including Engineering, Programming, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Lead daily shift meetings and communicate production priorities, safety information, and operational updates.
  • Facilitate problem-solving activities and support cross-functional decision-making.
  • Ensure timely communication of operational issues to leadership.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, work instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Support compliance with AS9100, ISO, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Safety:
  • Promote and enforce compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and promptly address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Ensure employees utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report and investigate workplace incidents in accordance with company procedures.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing experience in a CNC machining environment.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and solve operational problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO quality management systems.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience leading Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand and walk throughout the manufacturing facility during the workday.
  • Frequently use hands and fingers to operate computers, controls, and office equipment.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in office and production environments.
  • Visual ability sufficient to inspect work areas, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing production environments.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, machine tools, industrial noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, and manufacturing processes.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear, while in designated production areas.
  • Occasional overtime and schedule flexibility may be required to support business needs.
