Location: This is an in-person role, not remote, not hybrid
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday; 3rd shift hours; 11:30pm - 7:30am
Summary
Overall responsibility for all aspects of assigned department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieve production standards with expected quality on a daily basis. Monitor all aspects of production utilizing all tools, such as interval measurement, cumulative, and standard cycle speeds throughout the shift. Make continual observations and recommendations to increase production. Immediately communicate all significant delays in production to the shift manager. Take actions to alleviate such delays.
- Ensure all personnel within the department follow safety procedures. Perform safety checks at least twice a day. Correct safety issues and communicate ongoing safety concerns to the shift manager. Record injuries immediately and deliver reports to HR.
- Ensure proper staffing throughout the day. Communicate staffing needs with other supervisors and the shift manager. Manage overtime ratios and handle leave requests.
- Train and evaluate new and temporary employees timely. Conduct performance evaluations and monitor employee performance throughout the year. Handle employee issues professionally, enforce policies, and refer problems to HR.
- Maintain departmental readiness for shifts, including equipment setup, supplies, safety items, and cleanliness. Use logbooks for communication.
- Coordinate with mechanics to resolve mechanical issues affecting production. Ensure machines are properly set and operational.
- Oversee material handlers and quality control processes, ensuring efficiency and adherence to procedures. Address quality issues promptly and document mistakes with QANs.
- Ensure proper use of tags and labels on products. Manage documentation and reporting related to material and production issues.
- Verify job completion before machine breakdowns or setups. Communicate with the data center on urgent jobs and ensure needs are met.
- Follow company rules, regulations, and confidentiality policies. Promote quality and efficiency improvements. Keep management informed of relevant activities and issues.
- Perform other duties as required to meet department and company goals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Two years of college plus 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a lettershop or equivalent environment.
