The Production Supervisor is responsible for employee safety, supervising production/operational department(s) or work centers. Ensures compliance to daily planning, manufacturing and shipment schedules, while maintaining standards of quality, specifications, costs, productivity, and safety. Provides employee training and maintains compliance with established rules, regulations, practices, and contractual provisions.

Shift is 11PM-7AM

Essential Duties:

Safety:

• Identify unsafe conditions and eliminate safety hazards.
• Understand incidents thoroughly, take corrective actions, and reflect in reports.
• Review incident reports with the Director of Operations for comments and corrective actions.
• Address departmental breakdowns.
• Coach, encourage, and monitor employees for safety compliance.

Staffing/Training:

• Staff work centers based on workload; make recommendations to the Director of Operations.
• Train and cross-train operators to meet schedules.
• Participate in committees with the Director of Operations to address strategic issues like OSR/scrap reduction, safety, etc.
• Measure operator efficiency, communicate progress, and coach for success.
• Consult with HR on employee/labor relations and benefits.

Schedule:

• Compare actual vs. planned schedule performance per work center.
• Coordinate with Planning to ensure realistic schedules.

Scrap:

• Report scrap by work center.
• Implement corrective actions to reduce scrap.
• Analyze OSRs and collaborate to resolve issues with operators and engineers.

Productivity:

• Review operator performance regularly to meet productivity targets.
• Use coaching and training for development.

Work Center Organization:

• Organize work centers for maximum efficiency.
• Conduct team meetings, provide tools, and maintain housekeeping.
• Reduce inter-departmental material handling.
• Improve staging efficiency.

Measurement:

• Achieve at least 70% labor efficiency.
• Reduce indirect labor through better handling, less rework, and flexible work practices.
• Ensure capacity meets or exceeds actual needs.
• Track late orders and on-time delivery metrics.

Cost Reduction:

• Minimize downtime via efficient setups, materials, and preventive maintenance.

Note: These duties are general; additional responsibilities may be added as business needs evolve.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• 3-5 years minimum in manufacturing supervision; wire and cable experience preferred. Mechanical and process aptitude essential.
• 2-4 year degree in engineering or manufacturing technology preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Strong conceptual, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Team player and developer of teamwork.
