Job summary

Qualifications

  • A 4 Year Technical or Business Degree preferred.
  • Understand Lean Manufacturing principles including auditing, standard work, root cause problem solving, and 5S.
  • Good communicator to employees at all levels within the company.
  • Ability to recognize production disruptions and adjust to minimize impact on schedule.
  • Working knowledge of Epicor and good computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure workplace safety and accountability for the department.
  • Improve departmental productivity and eliminate production disruptions and constraints.
  • Conduct monthly safety audits and train new employees on safe production techniques.
  • Take ownership of department performance (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and drive improvements.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Production Manager and lead root-cause problem solving on production issues.
  • Develop Production Coordinators to be effective shop floor leaders and lead daily team huddles.

Job description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and developing production employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role is focused on creating a safe, organized, and efficient workplace by applying Lean Manufacturing principles and driving operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include training and developing new employees, improving departmental productivity, eliminating production disruptions and constraints, conducting daily audits, and leading root cause problem-solving efforts. The Production Supervisor ensures their team consistently manufactures high-quality products while meeting customer expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.

Through effective leadership, coaching, and performance management, the Production Supervisor builds a highly engaged team that embraces continuous improvement and delivers outstanding operational results.

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for workplace safety. Takes responsibility for the safety of the department. Participates in assessment of
  • department, safety audits, and training new employees on safe production techniques. Performs Accident
  • Investigations. Conducts monthly safety training topics.
  • Must be able to improve working conditions and take ownership of department accepting personal accountability for
  • the performance of the department (safety, quality, productivity, and cost).
  • Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls and standard work. Understands the quality
  • control plan of their Value Stream. Provides regular progress reports to Production Manager.
  • Work with ME’s to implement root cause problem solving of production problems.
  • Takes a lead role in the training and development of new employees.
  • Builds and maintains cohesive and productive teams. Maintains professionalism in all interactions.
  • Promotes workplace organization and cleanliness. Understands a focus on 5S.
  • Ensures daily audits are completed and quality procedures are understood and followed. Ensure all documentation is
  • present and accurate.
  • Ensure that the Team Board information is up to date and used in performance improvement. Lead daily Team
  • huddles.
  • Develop Production Coordinators to be effective shop floor leaders.

Requirements

  • A 4 Year Technical or Business Degree is preferred.
  • Safety Conscious.
  • Understand Lean Manufacturing principles including auditing, standard work, root cause problem solving, and 5s.
  • A good communicator to employees at all levels within the company.
  • Ability to recognize production disruptions and adjust to minimize impact on schedule.
  • Working knowledge of Epicor and good computer skills.
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior.
