Job summary

Hendrickson in Lebanon, KY is seeking a Production Supervisor to support the Production Manager in leading hourly personnel, directing daily production, and promoting safety, quality, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires 2–5 years of supervision in manufacturing, strong leadership and problem‑solving skills, and familiarity with TS16949 and the 7 Quality tools; MS Office proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2–5 years' experience in a supervisor role with performance coaching and discipline.
  • Ability to direct, motivate and coordinate manufacturing activities.
  • Familiarity with the 7 Quality tools (APQP, SPC, 8D, etc.).
  • MRP working knowledge preferred; TS16949 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to assure consistent application of company rules and procedures.
  • Plan, organize and develop resources to meet annual goals and on-time shipments.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and substandard products are not shipped.
  • Manage production to meet customer specs and minimize scrap and concern.
  • Develop and implement daily activities procedures (work instructions, TS16949 manuals, OJT).
  • Participate in Manufacturing Excellence using 8D and continuous improvement to identify root causes.
  • Oversee daily production to achieve schedule compliance and on-time delivery.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and secure work environment; enforce PPE use.
  • Report accidents/near misses and participate in investigations with corrective actions.
  • Coordinate machine operation training and cross-training for hourly staff.
  • Administer company policies fairly and consistently; apply Lean concepts.
  • Maintain 5S initiatives and keep TS16949 manuals current at each work center.

Job description

Position Purpose

Supporting the Production Manager in the areas of leadership and supervision of hourly personnel, managing daily production of parts and schedules, promoting safety, quality, 5S and continuous improvement efforts for the facility.

Essential Functions
  • Provide the leadership and the discipline to assure consistent application of the company rules and procedures.
  • Plan, organize and develop company resources to efficiently meet or exceed the annual success sharing goals and objectives and on-time shipments of product to customers
  • Ensure all company quality standards are adhered to and that substandard products do not reach customers
  • Manage the production of parts to meet or exceed customer/design specifications to be at or below planned customer concern and scrap levels
  • Assist the Production Manager in the development and implementation of procedures required to perform daily activities (Work Instructions, TS16949 manuals, OJT training forms, etc)
  • Participate in Manufacturing Excellence initiatives using problem solving teams, utilizing 8D and continuous improvement methodologies, to identify root cause and corrective actions to correct quality related issues and improvement of plant productivity
  • Manage the daily production of parts according to the production schedules (schedule compliance) to minimize past due orders and maximize on time delivery
  • Supervise the maintenance of a safe, clean, and secure work environment for employees ensuring safety devices are in use and the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is always worn
  • Report all accidents/near misses to the Production Manager and/or Human Resources Manager within 24 hours. Participate in the completion of the accident investigation/report and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained
  • Participate in Safety Programs (Safety Committee Meetings, Safety Audits, Safety Excellence initiatives) promoting safety awareness to create a positive safety culture
  • Coordinate machine operation training and cross training to hourly personnel to validate their ability and qualifications to perform work safely and at expected levels
  • Administer company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
  • Apply Lean concepts to improve production processes
  • Maintain 5S initiatives within production area responsibilities by maintaining 6S maps and audits on a routine basis
  • Maintain and update TS16949 manuals at each work center
  • Track attendance, schedule vacations, ensure compliance to the employee handbook, etc.
Education and Training

2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Associate's degree preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 2-5 years' experience in a supervisor role conducting performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary activities
  • Must possess the ability to effectively direct, motivate and coordinate all activities associated with the manufacturing processes preferably in a Tier I Automotive environment
  • Professionalism and integrity to communicate and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization
  • PC skills necessary
  • Familiarity with the 7 Quality tools (APQP, SPC, 8D, etc.)
  • MRP working knowledge (preferred)
  • TS16949 experience (preferred)
