ROLE SUMMARY

The Dryer Supervisor plays a critical role in the production of safe, high-quality dried egg ingredients at Oskaloosa Food Products Corp. This position oversees all aspects of the drying operation across Plants 2 & 3 — leading a team of production employees, maintaining rigorous food safety and quality standards, and keeping the operation running at peak efficiency every day. This is a hands-on, working supervisor role — meaning you'll be right alongside your team on the production floor while also providing the leadership and oversight that keeps operations running safely and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all Drying Plant operations to ensure full compliance with company standards for safety, quality, and production output.
  • Actively work alongside production employees on the floor, performing hands-on duties as needed to maintain workflow and support the team.
  • Perform and oversee sanitation duties throughout the day, ensuring all equipment, surfaces, and work areas meet company and USDA cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure all production activities comply with HACCP standards by completing required documentation throughout the day.
  • Train production employees on SOPs and SSOPs for their assigned work areas; conduct department-specific orientations for all new employees joining the team.
  • Supervise direct reports; administer corrective actions and deliver constructive, timely performance evaluations in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Ensure employee assignments are in place and that production goals are met or exceeded each day.
  • Complete required quality checks, including pre-operational inspections and routine checks throughout the day.
  • Inspect materials, products, and processing equipment to detect defects, malfunctions, and verify sanitation standards are met per HACCP and USDA requirements.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to monitor equipment conditions, troubleshoot malfunctions, and minimize downtime.
  • Oversee and assist with the loading and unloading of egg tankers, ensuring all safety protocols and food safety standards are followed.
  • Operate dryers as needed to cover employee breaks, vacations, or staffing shortages.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents; prepare accurate reports of findings and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with other supervisors to align operations and activities within and across departments.
  • Complete all required production reports accurately and on time.
  • Manage timekeeping for all employees — approving timecards and time-off requests using company software.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Mechanical aptitude: Hands-on knowledge of processing equipment and machinery, including forklifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Technical proficiency: Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and able to learn company-specific software.
  • Sound judgment: Weighs options carefully to make timely, appropriate decisions on the production floor.
  • Team leadership: Builds a collaborative, accountable team environment where people do their best work.
  • Interpersonal effectiveness: Develops and sustains positive working relationships with coworkers, visitors, customers, and USDA officers.
  • Time management: Self-motivated; effectively prioritizes tasks and manages both personal workload and team output.
  • Independence: Executes assignments through to completion with minimal direction.
  • Safety orientation: Works safely at all times, including handling chemical solutions and egg products, and actively supports the company's safety programs.
  • Clear communication: Conveys information accurately in both written and verbal form.
  • Attention to detail: Thorough and precise when following processes and completing documentation.
  • Professionalism: Consistently models courtesy, honesty, and accountability in all interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a production environment.
  • Previous food processing or manufacturing experience including familiarity with HACCP principles and food safety programs strongly preferred.
