ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Production Supervisor for the 2nd shift shipping team. You will lead a group of assemblers, machinists, and shipping personnel, ensuring production goals, safety, and quality metrics are met.

You will train staff, manage daily tasks from planning tools, and drive improvements across the factory while maintaining ISO compliance. This role requires strong English communication and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 1–3 years of related factory/manufacturing experience or equivalent combination.
  • Proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills for reports and business correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the LSP 2nd shift shipping team and oversee daily department operations.
  • Enforce safety regulations and promote 6S and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and HR as needed.
  • Develop, train, and assign tasks to team members based on work orders.
  • Monitor and report daily/weekly metrics for cost, schedule, quality, and safety.
  • Support development of production processes and problem-solving at the shop floor.

This role will lead the LSP 2nd shift shipping team. Assists in the orientation, training, development and assignment of employees within their department; provides leadership direction for the assigned team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  • Enforce safety regulations.
  • Determine daily department requirements using input from planning tools and production manager, to ensure that daily goals are met.
  • Provide training as needed to meet department needs.
  • Identify daily work tasks for the team members utilizing the work orders.
  • Accountable for daily/weekly metrics with respect to cost, schedule, quality and safety.
  • Coordinate activities and communicate with Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality Control, and Human Resources Departments as needed.
  • Participate and cultivate team engagement in 6S and process improvement programs; i.e. CITI program, 6S audits, etc.
  • Ability to track daily performance using charts, graphs or other metric programs.
  • Direct and perform duties as needed to meet department needs; use correct procedures in a teamwork environment.
  • Inspect components for fit and finish / or interpret departmental trends for anomalies and inform Department Manager of any issues.
  • Conform with the organization’s ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements.
  • Assist Production Manager with various tasks as requested.
  • Assist in the creation and development of systems, processes, and metrics to drive and maintain improvement across the entire factory.
  • Generate and coordinate execution of measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.
  • Assist production personnel in solving work-related problems.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises assemblers, machinists, and/or shipping personnel. Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years of related experience in a factory or manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office

Language Ability

  • For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, technicians, and assemblers in English.

Quality Commitment

  • Assist the organization with establishing practices that align with ISO requirements.

Other Skills

  • Ability to use basic hand tools.

Mathematical Ability

  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to problems

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply logic to a wide range of practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, pictures, etc.) Ability to deal with a variety of variables.
