Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking a Production Supervisor on the 2nd shift in Des Moines, IA to lead a team of hourly workers and coordinate daily production activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will work closely with Engineering, Materials, Quality, and HR to optimize schedules, monitor safety and quality standards, and drive continuous improvement through Lean practices and ERP/WMS systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6+ years of relevant production leadership experience.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience.
  • Proficiency with ERP/WMS and MS Office.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise hourly employees and coordinate shift operations.
  • Prepare daily time sheets, production summaries, overtime, and downtime reports.
  • Plan work assignments to maximize manpower, materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on new methods, layouts, processes, and equipment to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Coordinate with Material Control on production schedules and parts requirements; provide status updates.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control on quality standards and interpretations.
  • Communicate changes or conditions affecting production to management.
  • Work with Human Resources on employee/labor relations matters.
  • Ensure compliance with plant rules, policies, safety standards and housekeeping.

Production Supervisor (2nd Shift)- Des Moines, IA

The Production Specialist (Second Shift) is a second-line supervisor responsible for assigning and coordinating the work in a manufacturing department. #LI-TB1

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:

  • Supervising hourly employees, maintaining log of shift operations.
  • Preparing daily time sheets for hourly employees, production summaries, overtime, and downtime reports.
  • Planning work assignments to achieve maximum utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Working with Engineering personnel concerning new or revised methods, layouts, processes, and equipment to increase operating efficiency, reduce cost or improve quality.
  • Working with Material Control personnel concerning production schedules, parts, etc. Providing feedback on status of schedule and needs for change.
  • Working with Quality Control personnel concerning the maintenance and interpretation of quality standards.
  • Communicating to management any changes or conditions which may affect production.
  • Working with Human Resources concerning employee or labor relations matters.
  • Assuring compliance with plant rules, policies, safety standards and good housekeeping.
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 6 + years of relevant experience
  • Prior production leadership experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 6+ years of leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Proficiency with an ERP/ WMS, and Microsoft Office Suite
