Job summary

Welch Packaging in Indiana is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor with at least 2 years of supervisory or training experience to lead the plant's Manufacturing department, uphold safety standards, ensure product quality, and drive efficiencies.

You will coach and develop direct reporting staff, monitor production performance, communicate clearly with teams, and enforce company policies in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or training experience.
  • Packaging industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safety of associates and implementing safety procedures.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate direct reporting staff.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on production performance and issues.
  • Ensure clear verbal and written communication to staff.
  • Troubleshoot to identify root causes and take fast action.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards for a clean, safe workplace.
  • Make decisions on quality or scheduling within company structure.
  • Communicate changes from crews to the plant superintendent.
  • Enforce company policies (attendance, quality, safety, conduct).
  • Maintain and authorize daily time cards.
  • Conduct new employee evaluations in the first month.
  • Complete RGAs as required.
  • Report and communicate order shortages.
  • Ensure accuracy of production and quality reporting.
  • Duties may vary by location.

Lead Manufacturing department to create and maintain a behavior-based safety culture, produce quality products and maintain and increase plant efficiencies..

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for safety of associates and implementing safety procedures established throughout the plant.
  • Manage, Develop, and motivate direct reporting staff
  • Monitor, measure, and report on production related process performance, general issues
  • To ensure good communication is given either verbally or written to all members of staff
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills are used to ensure that all team members can identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve the problems in hand.
  • Maintain and enforce housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace
  • Be able to make appropriate decisions involving quality, or scheduling while following the companies organizational structure.
  • Communicate with the plant superintendent any changes communicated from crews.
  • Enforce and discipline any associates breaking our companies policies (i.e. attendance, quality, safety, associate conduct).
  • Maintain and authorize employee time cards on a daily basis
  • Conduct new employee evaluations at the end of each week within their first month of employment
  • Responsible for the completion of RGAs
  • Report and communicate order shortages
  • Responsible for correctness of production and quality reporting
  • Duties may vary depending on location
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
EXPERIENCE
  • Packaging industry experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or training experience
