Job summary

Dessert Holdings is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day production and packaging operations in Humble, TX. The role reports to the Operations Manager and focuses on achieving SQDCM goals through leadership and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will monitor line performance, costs and safety, and drive corrective actions while empowering team members and fostering cross-functional collaboration across shifts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Associate technical degree preferred; combination of education and experience accepted.
  • 3–5+ years in industrial food manufacturing with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and teambuilding abilities.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and groups.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and basic math.
  • Effective planning, organizing and priority setting.
  • Shift flexibility including extended hours, weekends and holidays when required.

Responsibilities

  • Operation and oversight of production and/or packaging lines.

  • Develop and apply CI and Lean tools to continuously understand problems and improve performance.
  • Plan, lead and contribute to CI initiatives as Team Leader and Team Member.
  • Proactively develop cross-functional shift-to-shift relationships to transfer knowledge and drive performance.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching to direct reports to achieve objectives and improve performance.
  • Achieve manufacturing objectives by planning, monitoring and evaluating results; coach and discipline as needed.
  • Budgeting and management of line/department resources and expenses; plan budgets for operation and maintenance.

PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - 2nd shift

Dessert Holdings is looking for a Production Supervisor to join our growing team in Humble, TX. The Production Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and is directly responsible for the day-to-day production and/or packaging operations. This person will be responsible for achieving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and motivational objectives (SQDCM) through both individual and team contributions and collaboration with fellow team members. In addition, this person will continuously monitor line performance, quality, costs and safety to ensure that they are within standard, and initiate corrective and preventive actions when standards are not met. The Production Supervisor provides direction, leadership, development and support to direct reports through empowerment, teamwork, on-the-job assignments. The Production Supervisor will lead and contribute to on-going Continuous improvement (CI) initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operation and oversight of production and/or packaging Lines
  • Manage work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment.
  • Develop and apply Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean Manufacturing (LM) tools to continuously understand problems and improve performance
  • Plan, lead and contribute to on-going stream of CI initiatives as Team Leader and Team Member
  • Proactively develop cross functional and shift-to-shift collaborative relationships to transfer knowledge and drive performance improvement
  • Leadership, Supervision and Individual & Team Development: Provide direct reports with leadership, direction, feedback and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills
  • Achieve manufacturing objectives by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
  • Develop individual and team capability using skill assessment, coaching, training, developing personal growth opportunities and performance management tools
  • Compliance with Regulatory, Company and Industry Best Practice Operating and Safety Requirements:
  • Satisfy safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor & Maintain Employee, Equipment and Facility compliance with Regulatory and Company requirements for Human Safety and Food Safety
  • Budgeting and Management of Line/Department Resources & Expenses
  • Plan and build budgets for operation, maintenance, major repairs and improvements
  • Effectively manage Line/Department Operating, Maintenance and Labor Expenses
Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Associate technical degree preferred combination of education and/or experience equivalent required
  • 3 to 5+ years of related work experience in an industrial food manufacturing operation; prior supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team and teambuilding skills
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives and tools
  • Strong analytical, trouble shooting, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds and with varying education and expertise levels
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and basic mathematical skills.
  • Effective planning, organizing and priority setting skills.
  • Shift flexibility including extended hours, weekends and holidays when required
