Hours: 9:30 am to 8:30 pm

Summary

The 2nd shift Production Supervisor assists the finishing group with grinding pipe, pipe fittings, gland packs to pipe and other items as needed, some products pulling will be needed, along with shipping and receiving, stocking, driving the forklift, pulling product, inventory maintenance, and production shop maintenance. The primary role will be supervising the cement lining team.This position is accountable for maintaining a safe, efficient, and accurate production operation for the best possible service for the customer and with coworkers.

Essential Functions

• Must have experience with castings and fittings and know how to grind the castings
• Must have heavy grinding experience on casting and fittings
• Must have experience with hand tools/grinding tools and pneumatic air equipment
• Should be able to perform any other activity assigned from time to time...
• Pulls product and packages material for shipment to meet customer requirements using the forklift and other equipment.
• Maintains production/warehouse and yard environments to provide the cleanest and safest environment possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervision of employees
• Safely operates forklifts; follows proper procedures to take care of forklifts and other equipment.
• Collects product from bins following the radio frequency (RF) system.
• Has the product inspected for accuracy and quality.
• Packages product in accordance with Star Pipe Products’ standards.
• Collects and disposes of trash from warehouse, manufacturing, and yard.
• Inspects bins, equipment, and manufacturing for safety; takes appropriate safety precautions and wears appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Accurately pulls orders and stocks inventory items in the correct bins.
• Communicates issues such as equipment damage, incidents, safety concerns, etc. to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

Required:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of experience completing manufacturing tasks in a supervisory role

• Experience in a manufacturing and warehousing center specializing in the Waterworks Industry or related fields
• Experience with inventory tracking and radio frequency systems
• Experience Lean Manufacturing and 6s

Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc.:

Required:

• Able to operate a forklift
• Excellent situational awareness
• Clear, concise, and accurate communication skills
• Ability to prioritize effectively
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Basic computer experience
• Ability to pay attention to detail

Physical Demands

• Able to lift, move up, and carry materials up to 75 pounds
• Will be required to reach, stand, walk, or crouch during a 10-hour shift
• Must be able to be on feet continuously during a 10-hour shift
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs frequently during a 10-hour shift
• Must be able to climb 4 feet onto and off of a fork truck repetitively during a 10-hour shift
• Must be able to kneel and bend at the knees frequently during a 10-hour shift
• Must be able to push and pull 300 lbs with a pallet jack / fed-ex and ups shipping carts frequently during a 10-hour shift
• Must be able to use wrist and hands frequently during a 10-hour shift

Work Environment

• Able to work in various climate conditions
• Overtime and weekend work may occasionally be required
