Job Description

Primarily responsible to provide excellent support to the Plant Manager and excellent customer service to all associates and visitors. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for supervisory management within the production areas and ensuring that all assigned tasks are delivered on time, according to the production specifications while complying with all Federal, State, Local, or customer requirements, including OSHA, AIB, and all Café Valley Bakery standards.

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN MARION, INDIANA

Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Consistent and dependable attendance
  • Ability to stand/walk for a minimum of 6 hours without a break
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible schedules as business needs demand
  • Ability to work with or around food allergens of all types
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (spiral, oven area, freezer, etc.)
  • Must be able to wear/use personal protective equipment
  • Plan the day-to-day allocation of resources (equipment, people, materials, and systems) to achieve performance targets safely and cost-effectively
  • Document daily production activities and review results against targets, reporting variances during meetings
  • Review daily maintenance effectiveness, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure timely maintenance and repairs
  • Manage supervisory activities including scheduling, performance reviews, hiring, discipline, coaching, training, and termination recommendations
  • Utilize problem-solving tools to address root causes and support continuous improvement
  • Facilitate shift transitions and communicate key information effectively
  • Maintain a safe work environment with proper instructions, practices, and procedures, and enforce compliance
  • Ensure adherence to quality and food safety programs, including GMPs, sanitation, HACCP, and product quality checks
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the area of responsibility
  • Possess working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, lean manufacturing, and related principles
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all organizational levels
  • Motivate and mentor employees, and identify development needs
  • Manage multiple priorities efficiently in a dynamic environment

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree plus 5 years of food manufacturing experience or a combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in bakery or food production
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent communication, conflict management, decision-making, motivation, and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Basic mechanical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
