Main Duties & Responsibilities
Job Summary
The supervisor will provide leadership and management in operations to accelerate the flow of work safely and efficiently from plan to delivery. The supervisor oversees all shift operations in a manner that enhances safety, personnel engagement, product quality, delivery, productivity, cost reduction, and equipment maintenance. Reports directly to the Manager of Operations.
Description of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Guide and support direct reports to achieve expected results.
- Direct responsibility for employee orientation, training, development, and safe work practices.
- Lead and engage the team by driving daily SQDC.
- Participate actively in the Safety Committee.
- Work as a team with functional area supervisors and managers to meet quality, service, and performance objectives.
- Support and communicate information timely between the company and employees.
- Implement company policies.
- Maintain an orderly work environment, sustaining 5S, FOD, and other continuous improvement and environmental directives.
- Identify and eliminate waste in all production phases.
- Train, cross-train, and maintain competency records of employees.
- Recommend promotion of qualified and skilled workers.
- Review, counsel, evaluate, and discipline employees as necessary.
- Prepare yearly performance reviews and disciplinary actions, supporting employee development.
- Identify and recommend staffing levels based on production needs.
- Monitor and control manufacturing costs, including material usage and overtime.
- Assist HR in maintaining employee records.
- Review workmanship and handling-related issues.
- Address and implement process improvements with Production and Engineering.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and tooling.
- Assist with BOM & ERP system updates and alignment.
- Ensure supplies and tools are provided.
- Supervise accurate and timely reporting of WIP movement using dispatch reports.
- Maintain inventory control and accuracy.
- Apply SPC principles as necessary within the production environment.
- Provide production support to support groups.
- Monitor, report, and improve employee utilization and productivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Operations or GM.
The salary range for this position is $100K-$120K.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, equivalent education, or experience (5-10 years).
- Lean certification preferred (all tools, 5S, etc.).
- 3-5 years of leadership or manufacturing supervisor experience or equivalent; demonstrable experience may be accepted in place of credentials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs.
- Moderate physical exertion including lifting a maximum of 50 lbs, sometimes bending, and considerable standing.
