Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Production Supervisor for the 2nd shift in our Prepared Foods division.

You will lead a production team to maintain high output, quality and yields while upholding safety standards and USDA compliance. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, and coaching; ensuring staffing, equipment function, and accurate record keeping; and collaborating with other supervisors to solve problems and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma; additional vocational or college courses preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years in manufacturing; prior supervisory experience.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Special Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, work ethic, ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel: Some travel required (to other facilities or corporate).
  • Preferred: Knowledge of food industry processes and equipment; understanding of financial indicators/analysis; budget development/management.
  • Must reside in the United States; Sponsorship not available; Relocation Assistance Eligible: Yes; Work Shift: 2ND SHIFT; Pay Range: $63,000 - $107,000; Incentives: Annual Incentive Plan: Yes; Long-Term Incentive Plan: No.

Responsibilities

  • Building the team: hiring, training, retaining, and counseling on benefits, compensation, and policies.
  • Guiding the team in stretches before shifts and rotating workstations.
  • Checking daily production orders for fulfillment, accurate shipments, inventory rotation, and proper product coding.
  • Ensuring all line workstations are staffed before start-up.
  • Ensuring machinery performance and USDA inspection compliance.
  • Promoting safety through daily practices and monthly meetings.
  • Overseeing processing operations and collaborating with other supervisors to solve problems.
  • Providing ongoing education on quality.
  • Performing other duties as needed.

You can expect your day to day include maintaining high production, quality, and yields while ensuring the safest working environment possible. This position requires an essential understanding and control of the production process, accurate record keeping, and general line maintenance and staffing.

Responsibilities
  • Building the best team possible, including hiring, training, retaining, and counseling on personal and professional problems as well as educating your team on benefits, compensations, and company policies.
  • Guiding the team in stretches before their shift and rotating workstations throughout the shift.
  • Checking daily production orders to ensure fulfillment of customer orders, ensuring accurate shipments, record keeping, rotation of inventory, and proper coding of products.
  • Ensuring all workstations on your line are staffed before start-up of production.
  • Ensuring that all machinery is performing and all workstations have passed USDA Inspection.
  • Promoting safety daily as well as through monthly safety meetings.
  • Overseeing various processing operations and working with other supervisors in solving problems.
  • Providing continuous education on the importance of quality.
  • Performing other responsibilities as the need arises.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma; additional vocational or college courses preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years in a manufacturing environment highly preferred; prior supervisory experience required.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Special Skills: Strong leadership and problem-solving skills; strong work ethic, and ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel: Some travel is required. This could be to other facilities or to corporate.
  • Preferred Skills (Not Required): Knowledge of food industry processes and equipment, understanding of financial indicators/analysis, and experience in budget development/management.
