Job summary

Steele Solutions in South Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Production Supervisor to direct daily manufacturing operations and lead a team toward on-time delivery with high quality and safety standards.

The role requires supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting, strong leadership, and a focus on continuous improvement. This position is Regular Full Time and on-site at our South Milwaukee facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years supervisory/leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic math and strong communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the manufacturing team in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Champion CI projects and support process and cost improvement activities.
  • Lead training initiatives to ensure a safe work environment and proper PPE usage.
  • Assign tasks among department personnel and monitor performance to meet schedules.
  • Ensure smooth and safe operation of equipment within assigned areas.
  • Handle employee call-ins and document appropriately.
  • Take ownership of production schedules.
  • Participate in planning meetings and advise on space, personnel, and equipment needs.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Procurement for timely feedback.

Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing daily production operations. Tasked with managing and supervising the production team and processes, the Production Supervisor ensures the efficient execution of production scheduled while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the manufacturing team in a continuous improvement environment
  • Champion Continuous Improvement projects and offer leadership support in developing, implementing, and sustaining process and cost improvement activities
  • Lead and facilitate training initiatives to ensure a safe work environment, emphasizing adherence to safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective
  • Assign tasks effectively among department personnel and monitor their performance to ensure efficient operations and adherence to production schedules
  • Ensure the smooth and safe operation of all equipment within the assigned areas of responsibility
  • Handles employee call-ins and documenting appropriately
  • Takes ownership of production schedules
  • Participates in planning meetings, recommends space, personnel, and equipment requirements.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers, Engineers and Procurement providing timely and accurate feedback information

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associates Degree is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-5 years of supervisory and/or leadership experience

Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization. Bilingual English/Spanish helpful, but not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
