Job summary

Steele Solutions in South Milwaukee, WI seeks a Plant Manager to drive operational excellence across safety, quality, delivery and efficiency. You will lead the shop leadership team, develop personnel, and ensure customer commitments are met.

Under the VP of Manufacturing, you will own production schedules, coordinate with engineering and procurement, and uphold the company’s standards and values. A hands-on leader with 5–10 years in manufacturing is required.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Manufacturing related field.
  • 5–10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven track record of developing high-performing teams and driving improvements.

  • Oversee the shop's day-to-day operations and production schedules.

Summary

Under direction of the VP of Manufacturing, the Plant Manager is accountable for ensuring all operational metrics are achieved in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and efficiencies for assigned plant, providing superior customer service to all internal and external customers. Leads and develops the shop leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Manages all the shop's day to day operations
  • Coaches and motivate employees to the highest production levels that will exceed customer expectations
  • Assesses all staff members, schedules, and makes sure all follow SSi's core values
  • Completes 30/90/180 employee annual reviews
  • Collaborates with HR team in determining new hires
  • Handles employee call-ins and documenting appropriately
  • Assists maintenance team on all equipment at shop: Paint line, drilling, plasma machines, forklifts
  • Evaluates processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.
  • Takes ownership of production schedules. Ensure customer's needs are being met.
  • Participates in planning meetings, recommends space, personnel, and equipment requirements.
  • Develops, recommends, and implement departmental policies and procedures, processes, and methods.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers, Engineering and Procurement and provide timely and accurate information and feedback.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/initiatives with budget limits and time constraints.
  • Completes all required paperwork (quality charts, production charts, logbook, etc.)
  • Acts as an owner and steward of company's product quality by ensuring that systems are in place to protect the company's brand and enhance customer and consumer satisfaction.
  • Provides, promote and maintain a safe and healthy workplace for members, which is compliant with all OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Oversees compliance with applicable governmental regulations.

Education and/or Experience
  • Associates degree in Manufacturing related field
  • 5-10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting

Language Skills

Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization. Bilingual English/Spanish helpful, but not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
