Job summary

Saint-Gobain in Mississippi is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead the production line teams, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with all policies. You will coach and mentor staff, develop skills, and manage daily HR issues like payroll and recognition, while reporting to the Production Manager.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 3-5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production processes, and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct all Production activities for assigned lines to meet specifications and quality requirements.
  • Observe work and monitor to ensure production standards; assist in troubleshooting.
  • Interpret production specifications and determine acceptability of in-process production.
  • Support activities such as Maintenance and Engineering.
  • Maintain knowledge of products and manufacturing within specification.
  • Maintain communication with Operations Management to ensure understanding of production requirements.
  • Advise and counsel Production team members, using progressive discipline when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and maintain a safe, accident-free workplace.

Job description

  • Flexibility to cover vacations and other staffing needs is required.

The Production Supervisor is responsible for all production activities. The incumbent will manage and direct the activities of the production line personnel to safely produce quality products. Develops the knowledge, skills, and abilities of their direct reports by acting as a coach and mentor. Placing priority on taking care of their employees and ensure that daily human resource issues are timely and consistent (payroll, recognition, accountability, etc.). The incumbent is held accountable to ensure production activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, policies, and procedures. This position reports directly to the Production Manager.



  • Supervise and direct all Production activities for assigned lines to ensure that products are produced to meet or exceed all established process specifications and quality requirements. Confer with Production Manager and establish work schedules, assignments, and production requirements for operations and activities within or between departments.

  • Observe work and monitor to ensure production or processing standard performance. Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving.

  • Interprets production specifications and determines the acceptability of production that is in process.

  • Responsible for the support of activities such as Maintenance and Engineering.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of products and manufacturing all products within specification.

  • Maintain communication with Operations Management to assure production requirements are understood.

  • Must advise and counsel Production team members effectively, utilize progressive discipline, taking corrective actions when warranted for crew members.

  • Ensures compliance with all safety procedures, establishes, and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment. Eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment, and machine operations, which may lead to human injury and or property damage.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and/or 3-5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production processes, and standard operating procedures.

  • Proven ability to lead, develop, motivate, and engage teams while fostering a positive and accountable work environment.

  • Excellent communication, active listening, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and the promotion of safe work practices.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes.

  • Proficiency with computer systems and standard business software applications.

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience driving operational excellence, process improvements, and productivity initiatives in a manufacturing setting.

  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and implement solutions that improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
