Job summary

Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. (BCI) is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to manage daily floor operations in our Reno plant. You will supervise 20–30 associates, ensure quality and on-time production, and lead safety initiatives.

You will train staff, maintain inventories, and collaborate with maintenance to minimize downtime. The role demands strong lean skills, hands-on supervision, and effective communication within a team environment.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience as a production supervisor or manager.
  • Experience in the corrugated packaging industry preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certified forklift operator.
  • Supervises 20–30 associates and maintains safe, efficient workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production staff and train associates; plan, assign and direct work; evaluate performance.
  • Maintain safe, clean operations; enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Drive production plans: set priorities, monitor progress, adjust schedules, report results.
  • Ensure equipment operation and maintenance; assist with troubleshooting machine issues.
  • Compile production data, analyze performance, and report insights to management.
  • Lead weekly Production/Safety meetings and coordinate with shifts.
  • Manage inventories of sheets, inks and converting supplies.
  • Operate forklift as needed; support machine hands-on work.

Job description

Position Purpose

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the production floor through supervision, development and training of the production team which includes approximately 20-30 associates. In addition, it is responsible for the efficient movement of product through the plant with a focus on quality and timeliness. Reports to the Plant Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Follows established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times
  • Directs supervision of production staff including: training associates, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading associates to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance
  • Maintains efficient workflows by monitoring processes and variables; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systems
  • Completes production plan by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules, resolving problems and reporting results or issues
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and preventative maintenance; assists in troubleshooting machine issues
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests
  • Creates and revs procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping and budgetary/ personnel requirements
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing associates on the use of equipment and safety protocols
  • Maintains professional knowledge by attending workshops; reviewing professional publications
  • Assists with hands‑on operation of machines, including operating and feeding large press machines that require a full awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points and safety protocols
  • Maintains inventories of sheets, inks and other converting supplies
  • Reports quality concerns to the Management Team and assists in determining quality guidelines
  • Conducts weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel
  • Communicates with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes
  • Operates forklift, as needed, in tight spaces with human traffic
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Full‑time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse setting
Skill Set
  • Proficient in lean methods
  • Proficient in Amtech job costing module
  • Proficient in Amtech RPM module
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization
  • Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy; calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Results‑orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Demonstrates aptitude for problem‑solving and able to determine solutions for customers
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Assertive leader who holds self and others accountable
Qualifications Desired
  • 2 -5 years of experience as a production supervisor or manager
  • Experience in the corrugated packaging industry highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of all production machines, plant equipment and processes, including: equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation
  • Certified forklift operator
  • High school diploma / GED
