Job summary

Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. (BCI) is seeking a 1st shift Production - Supervisor to manage the production floor, develop and train a team of 20–30 associates, and ensure timely, quality product flow.

Reports to the Plant Manager and works 4:30 AM–2:30 PM, Monday–Friday. Responsibilities include enforcing safety and ISO standards, directing staffing and coaching, driving KPI targets, and improving safety, productivity, and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma / GED.
• Experience in the corrugated packaging industry preferred.
• Certified forklift operator.
• Working knowledge of production machines, plant equipment and operations.
• Results-oriented and able to work independently and in a team.
• Aptitude for problem-solving and customers.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written skills.
• Drives results through others.
• Assertive leader who holds self and others accountable.
• 2-5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Directs supervision of production staff including recruiting, selecting, training and developing associates through coaching and disciplinary actions
• Enforces safety rules, ISO standards, policies and procedures at all times
• Uses a Customer Driven approach to achieve KPI targets and engage associates in improvements
• Leads teams focused on safety, productivity, waste and quality improvements
• Maintains timekeeping and personnel records for direct reports
• Monitors workflows; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures
• Completes production plan by prioritizing, scheduling, solving problems and reporting results
• Ensures operation of equipment by coordinating repairs and troubleshooting
• Compiles production performance data and responds to requests
• Creates and revises systems and procedures to improve operating practices
• Maintains safe and clean work environment and trains associates on safety protocols
• Attends workshops and reviews professional publications
• Assists with hands-on operation of machines including press operations
• Operates forklift in tight spaces as needed

Responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the production floor through supervision, development and training of the production team which includes approximately 20‑30 associates. In addition, it is responsible for the efficient movement of product through the plant with a focus on quality and timeliness. Reports to the Plant Manager.

Schedule: 4:30AM-2:30PM; Monday- Friday

Compensation: $75,000-$85,000

Duties & Responsibilities

• Follows and enforces established safety rules, ISO standards policies and procedures at all times
• Directs supervision of production staff including recruiting, selecting, training and developing associates through coaching and disciplinary actions
• Uses a Customer Driven approach to achieve KPI targets and engage associates in the improvement process (i.e. production quality, output, processes and efficiencies)
• Leads work teams focused on continuous improvement in safety, productivity, waste and quality improvement
• Maintains timekeeping and personnel records for all direct reports
• Maintains efficient workflows by monitoring processes and variables; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systems
• Completes production plan by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules, resolving problems and reporting results or issues
• Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs; assists in troubleshooting machine issues
• Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests
• Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirements
• Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing associates on the use of all equipment and safety protocols
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications
• Assists with hands‑on operation of machines, including operating and feeding press machines that require a full awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points and safety protocols
• Operate forklift, as needed, in tight spaces with human traffic

Physical Requirements

• Regularly stand, walk, and communicate throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.

• Work safely around moving equipment, forklifts, and production machinery.
• Ability to maintain awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points, and safety hazards.
• Possess close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
