Job summary

Job description

Seeking a Production Supervisor for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Portage, IN.

This position offers full benefits including PTO, Medical, Dental and 401k!

Salary:$59,000 - $63,000 per year (based on experience)
Shift: 12:30pm - 9:00pm

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations and ensuring departmental goals, safety standards, quality requirements, and performance objectives are consistently met. This role provides leadership, coaching, training, and direction to production employees while maintaining an efficient workflow, controlling costs, and supporting a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise multiple production departments and a diverse team of production employees performing a variety of job functions.
  • Ensure employees are at their assigned work areas and prepared to begin work at the start of each shift.
  • Maintain sufficient workloads across production areas and ensure an efficient and timely workflow throughout the production floor and soil sort areas.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work environment while meeting established quality standards.
  • Monitor production and quality metrics, visual indicators, and employee performance to ensure accuracy, accountability, and consistent results.
  • Enforce workplace policies, procedures, safety standards, and operational requirements.
  • Provide onboarding, training, coaching, and ongoing performance feedback to department personnel.
  • Conduct daily and weekly coaching sessions to improve employee performance and effectiveness.
  • Partner with Human Resources to identify hiring, training, performance improvement, and employee development needs.
  • Approve PTO and employee leave schedules as needed.
  • Ensure new employees receive appropriate orientation and training regarding workplace objectives, policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Drive production performance and productivity improvements while supporting labor cost reduction initiatives.
  • Review production results and performance against established goals with management on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager regarding equipment repairs and maintenance needs, including maintaining and following up on repair requests.
  • Ensure customer concerns are addressed promptly and resolved satisfactorily.
  • Verify that daily safety, quality, productivity, and operational standards are consistently met.
  • Maintain plant organization and cleanliness through effective 5S process management.
  • Establish clear goals, expectations, and deadlines that align with overall operational objectives and communicate them effectively to employees.
  • Prepare and submit performance reports and provide recommendations regarding employee development and promotions.
  • Regularly walk the production floor to monitor employee performance, workflow, attendance, and break schedules to minimize lost production time.
  • Provide accountability and leadership to support consistent performance at all levels of the operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related production or manufacturing experience required.

  • Ability to effectively train, coach, motivate, and direct employees.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to work effectively on the production floor and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Ability to push or pull carts weighing up to 800 pounds on wheels.
  • Ability to consistently perform physical activities including bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and standing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
