Job summary

Smith+Nephew in Memphis, Tennessee is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead hourly teams, drive safety, quality, delivery and cost goals in a highly regulated, machine-intensive manufacturing operation. You will coach and develop staff, implement Lean, Kaizen events, and collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Materials, Planning, Maintenance, and Safety to improve productivity and product quality.

A bachelor's degree is preferred and 5+ years supervisory experience in Lean environments; hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
• 5+ years in a machine-intensive manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience in a Lean production environment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop hourly production teams to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost goals.
• Ensure production plans are executed safely and compliant with quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Kaizen, standard work, and process optimization.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Materials, Planning, Maintenance, and Safety teams to improve productivity and product quality.
• Lead daily management, monitor performance, and ensure schedules are met through effective resource use.
• Coach and develop employees, support succession planning and performance management.
• Support problem solving, safety investigations, and implementation of corrective actions.

What will you be doing?

• Lead and develop hourly production teams to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost goals across the manufacturing operation.
• Ensure production plans are executed efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, standard work, and process optimization.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Materials, Planning, Maintenance, and Safety teams to improve productivity, delivery performance, and product quality.
• Lead daily management activities, monitor performance, and ensure production schedules are achieved through effective resource utilization.
• Coach, train, and develop employees while supporting succession planning, performance management, and workforce capability growth.
• Support problem solving, troubleshooting, safety investigations, and implementation of sustainable corrective actions.

What will you need to be successful?

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in a machine intensive manufacturing operations environment and 5+ years of supervisory experience within a Lean production environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, influence, and develop high performing teams.
• Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, and results in a manufacturing setting.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience within highly regulated industries and familiarity with quality and compliance standards is preferred
