With a 121-year legacy, IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY is an independent American manufacturer specializing in high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems, and controls. We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor who is highly organized, a self-starter, and capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment. The ideal candidate will manage competing priorities to achieve company goals while maintaining a culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence. This is a first shift salaried position based in Mansfield, Ohio, reporting to the VP of Operations, and plays a key role throughout our product lifecycle, from design to customer application.
This role requires access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) which is Not Releasable to Foreign (NOFORN) data. Candidates must provide proof of US Citizenship, attest to not having dual citizenship, and be eligible to access regulated information.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Oversee scheduling and manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and quality, meeting customer expectations and on-time deliveries.
- Ensure adequate staffing for production needs; manage production/welding staff while maintaining good relations.
- Resolve problems and implement corrective actions.
- Provide training, support, guidance, and direction to subordinate personnel for job skill development.
- Order production-related parts, tools, and supplies as needed.
- Record production activities in ERP system.
- Manage inventory control within the ERP system.
- Provide maintenance services as needed.
- Maintain environmental records for compliance with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Support quality and safety initiatives; oversee housekeeping efforts in manufacturing areas.
Desired Qualifications & Competencies
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical school, college education, or related courses are a plus.
- Five+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment and in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience working with customers and vendors in a B2B environment.
- Strong teamwork, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and time management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, project management, and ERP systems.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing maintenance is helpful.
Working Conditions & Work Hours
- Minimum 8 hours daily, 40 hours weekly, with overtime as required based on production needs.
- May be exposed to confined spaces.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Physical Requirements
While performing duties, employee must:
- Talk and hear regularly.
- Frequently stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and enter confined spaces.
- Occasionally sit, climb, and balance.
- Lift 50-75 pounds and climb ladders/scaffolding up to 30 feet.
- Have vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
