Job summary

CRH plc, including its Oldcastle division, is seeking a production shift supervisor to oversee a manufacturing team and ensure quality and safety standards. The role involves goal setting, supervising machine operation, and coordinating maintenance activities to maintain efficient output.

Ideal candidates have prior team-lead experience in manufacturing, ability to train staff on forklift and related equipment, and the physical capability to work in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum prior team lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience training team members on equipment such as forklift, bobcat, and loader.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Must be able to walk stairs and stand for long periods and work in various temperatures.
• Must work in all environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

• Set production goals and expectations.
• Visually inspect and test machinery; set up and operate machinery.
• Listen for unusual sounds and coordinate with maintenance for repairs.
• Operate forklift as directed following safety policies.
• Inspect work in progress and finished products.
• Oversee daily preventive maintenance.
• Track and report inventory and parts usage.
• Analyze scorecards and production reports.
• Train, promote, and discipline employees.
• Ensure safety rules are followed.
• Supervise department to meet quality and production standards.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

• Set production goals and expectations
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Set up and operate machinery
• Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine
• Operate forklift as directed and without supervision while adhering to all rules and regulations mandated by safety policies and procedures
• Inspect work in progress and finished product
• Oversee the daily preventive maintenance program
• Track/report inventory and parts usage
• Analyze scorecards and day shift production reports
• Train, promote, and discipline employees
• Ensure all safety rules are followed and employee follow safety program
• Supervise employees in department to ensure they meet quality and production standards
• Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Job Requirements

• Previous team lead experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience providing on the job training to team members to include but not limited to the operation of forklift, bobcat, loader, and development of production machine troubleshooting skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and endure intermittent climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
• Walking up and down elevated catwalks and stairs and standing for long periods of time
• Ability to work in all environmental conditions and extreme temperatures
