Job summary

Magna Seating is seeking a production supervisor to lead Team Leaders and Production Associates in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. You will plan staffing, train employees, and ensure standardized work and timely production tracking.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of supervisory experience (or 5+ years in a leadership role within auto manufacturing), knowledge of JIT, and formal problem-solving training. Strong communication and lean principles are essential.

Qualifications

  • Two years of production supervisory experience or five years of team leadership in automotive manufacturing.
  • Formal training on problem solving methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, 8-D) preferred.
  • Experience with Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and OSHA guidelines is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Team Leader(s) and Production Team Associates, planning, assigning, directing and coordinating day-to-day activities.
  • Assists Production Manager in determining and managing manpower requirements.
  • Trains new and transferred employees and cross-trains as necessary.
  • Ensures adherence to standardized work processes and rotation schedules.
  • Tracks daily production and drives improvements; works to improve first run capabilities and reduce defects.
  • Participates in and leads process improvement projects (productivity, quality, ergonomics).
  • Monitors attendance and time-off; enforces policies and records time-off with documentation.

Our award-winning seating solutions are developed from consumer research, finding the ease of operation to be comfortable, convenient and connected.Job Responsibilities:Your contributions to the teamSupervises Team Leader(s) and Production Team Associates including but not limited to planning, assigning, directing and coordinating their day-to-day activities.Assists the Production Manager in determining and managing appropriate manpower requirements.Trains new and transferred employees on their job duties and responsibilities and cross trains as necessary.Ensures employees are consistently adhering to standardized work processes and rotation schedules.Tracks and reports daily production; and drives improvements where necessary.Works to improve first run capabilities by identifying repeat offender(s) and developing corrective action.Participates and leads process improvement projects: productivity, quality, ergonomics, etc.Monitors, maintains and records employees’ time related to the Attendance and Time-Off Policies (e.g. vacation, medical day, bereavement, jury duty, etc). Records approved time-off requests in timekeeping system; and ensures required time-off requests with supporting documentation are processed completely and timely.Provides timely feedback on work performance including but not limited to safety, housekeeping, quality, accuracy, quantity, attendance, punctuality, job knowledge, adaptability, initiative, teamwork, communication, judgment and comprehension.Supports and enforces the principles of the Employee Charter, Company goals and objectives, and decisions and policies by taking ownership and communicating these in a positive and supportive mannerWho we are looking forEducation/Certification/Licensure:High School Diploma or equivalent.Bachelor or Associate degree in related field preferredExperience:Minimum of two (2) years of production supervisory experience or a minimum of five (5) years of team leadership experience in an automotive manufacturing facility preferred.Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing experience preferred.Formal training on problem solving methodologies preferred (i.e., 5-why analysis, 8-D, etc.).Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Team oriented, communicates well with others, and able to interact with people at all levels and departments.Excellent problem-solving skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and various manufacturing/business information software.Working knowledge of safety standards and OSHA guidelines.Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including participation in kaizen events.Awareness, Unity, Empowerment:At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
