Job summary

Magna Seating seeks an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to lead digitization and automation initiatives across our Highland Park, MI operations. You will drive Industry 4.0 projects, improve data visibility, and accelerate continuous improvement with modern manufacturing solutions.

The role requires a mechanical/electrical/industrial engineering background, 3+ years in manufacturing automation, and hands-on PLC/robot/IIoT experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, automation engineering, or Industry 4.0 deployment.
• Hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics systems, SCADA/MES platforms, or IIoT devices.
• Strong understanding of data collection, machine connectivity, and industrial communication protocols.
• Experience leading complex technical projects within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and validation of automation and digitization projects across plant operations.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation including PFMEAs, process flows, control plans, and standard work with a digitization-first approach.
• Program, troubleshoot, and optimize automation systems—PLCs, robots, and vision systems.
• Collaborate with IT, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure seamless commissioning.
• Drive data-driven continuous improvement using OEE, downtime analytics, and machine data.
• Manage vendor relationships and oversee installation, commissioning, and acceptance of new equipment.
