Job summary

Magna Seating in Highland Park, MI, seeks a Production Supervisor to lead Team Leaders and Production Associates, plan manpower, and train staff. You’ll ensure standardized work, track daily production, and drive improvements in productivity, quality, and safety within a fast-paced automotive environment.

The role emphasizes leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration with a focus on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to support delivery and quality

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor or Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of production supervisory experience or 5+ years of team leadership in automotive manufacturing.
  • Just-in-Time manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Formal training on problem solving (5-Why, 8-D, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Team Leader(s) and Production Associates including planning, assigning, directing and coordinating daily activities.
  • Assists the Production Manager in determining manpower requirements.
  • Trains new and transferred employees and cross trains as necessary.
  • Ensures adherence to standardized work processes and rotation schedules.
  • Tracks and reports daily production and drives improvements where necessary.
  • Works to improve first run capabilities by identifying repeat offenders and developing corrective action.
  • Leads process improvement projects: productivity, quality, ergonomics, etc.
  • Monitors, maintains and records employees’ time related to Attendance and Time-Off Policies.
  • Provides timely feedback on performance including safety, housekeeping, quality, attendance, initiative, teamwork.
  • Supports the Employee Charter and company goals with positive communication.

Our award-winning seating solutions are developed from consumer research, finding the ease of operation to be comfortable, convenient and connected.**Job Responsibilities:****Your contributions to the team*** Supervises Team Leader(s) and Production Team Associates including but not limited to planning, assigning, directing and coordinating their day-to-day activities.* Assists the Production Manager in determining and managing appropriate manpower requirements.* Trains new and transferred employees on their job duties and responsibilities and cross trains as necessary.* Ensures employees are consistently adhering to standardized work processes and rotation schedules.* Tracks and reports daily production; and drives improvements where necessary.* Works to improve first run capabilities by identifying repeat offender(s) and developing corrective action.* Participates and leads process improvement projects: productivity, quality, ergonomics, etc.* Monitors, maintains and records employees’ time related to the Attendance and Time-Off Policies (e.g. vacation, medical day, bereavement, jury duty, etc). Records approved time-off requests in timekeeping system; and ensures required time-off requests with supporting documentation are processed completely and timely.* Provides timely feedback on work performance including but not limited to safety, housekeeping, quality, accuracy, quantity, attendance, punctuality, job knowledge, adaptability, initiative, teamwork, communication, judgment and comprehension.* Supports and enforces the principles of the Employee Charter, Company goals and objectives, and decisions and policies by taking ownership and communicating these in a positive and supportive manner**Who we are looking for****Education/Certification/Licensure****:*** High School Diploma or equivalent.* Bachelor or Associate degree in related field preferred**Experience****:*** Minimum of two (2) years of production supervisory experience or a minimum of five (5) years of team leadership experience in an automotive manufacturing facility preferred.* Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing experience preferred.* Formal training on problem solving methodologies preferred (i.e., 5-why analysis, 8-D, etc.).**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities****:*** Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Team oriented, communicates well with others, and able to interact with people at all levels and departments.* Excellent problem-solving skills.* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and various manufacturing/business information software.* Working knowledge of safety standards and OSHA guidelines.* Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including participation in kaizen events.## **Awareness, Unity, Empowerment:**At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
