Job summary

Gilbarco Veeder-Root, part of Vontier, seeks a manufacturing supervisor to lead a team operating machines and tools to assemble parts. You will analyze orders, estimate worker hours, and develop production schedules to meet internal and external deadlines.

You will interpret blueprints, assign duties, inspect outputs, and drive improvements in methods and workflow while maintaining records and supporting safety programs.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree or equivalent and 2–5 years related experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, interpret specs, and plan production.
• Strong supervisory, scheduling, and problem-solving capabilities.

Job description

This position is primarily responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in operating variety of machines and using a variety of tools to manufacture or assemble parts or products by performing the following duties personally or though subordinates supervisors and staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create assembly and manufacturing schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
• Computes amounts of supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requistions materials from the storage area.
• Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
• Plans flow of materials throughout department and develops physical layout of machines and assembly areas according to manufacturing requirements.
• Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
• Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
• Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods
• Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficient of shop
• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Maintains time and production records
• Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
• Estimate, requisitions, and inspects materials

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and 2 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
