Position Description

The Production Supervisor will drive production results through ownership and accountability; ensure performance targets are met on all lines; meet line performance and changeover objectives; maintain washouts to timelines; and limit downtime. This role works with maintenance to ensure effective operations/maintenance coordination, adherence to PM programs, training, and knowledge sharing. The supervisor will develop and implement systems to improve production efficiencies sustainably and repeatedly.

Shift: 1:15pm - 10:15pm

Essential Functions
  • Focus on improving line performance, limiting downtime, and reducing changeover time. Communicate mechanical knowledge to technicians and operators.
  • Develop and deliver briefs, reports, and hold meetings. Coordinate daily inter-departmental plans, safety items, cross-training, GMP and SQF compliance, QC checks, and visual observations.
  • Understand short-term and long-term production goals and how they align with daily/weekly/monthly plans.
  • Update SOPs as needed.
  • Plan and execute effective line startups, ensure equipment cleanliness, and plan new product runs.
  • Implement and maintain the training matrix, document expertise, develop training programs, and evaluate effectiveness. Certify employee qualifications and validate periodically.
  • Lead shift debriefs, communicate operational information, and support project initiatives including capital improvements, new product runs, packaging changes, and investigations.
  • Attend safety meetings and lead process improvement teams to enhance efficiency.
  • Develop knowledge of support systems essential for plant operation and understand the impact of support equipment issues.
  • Communicate expectations clearly, monitor performance, and address inefficiencies through coaching or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent experience plus four years in a production or engineering environment.
  • Strong leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in the food/beverage manufacturing industry.
  • Leadership experience in a unionized setting.

Position-Specific Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn new applications.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems; troubleshooting and Lean Manufacturing experience required.
  • Knowledge of SQF, food safety, and quality responsibilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Flexibility to work alternate shifts as needed.
