Job Summary:
TheProduction Shift Leadwill lead our efforts to ensure the successful production of goods through the Repack department. Production Shift Leads are expected to be on the floor working with their teams, setting up equipment and operating machines. Expectations include following standard work processes (SOPs), regulations, and policies to maximize team effectiveness and to recognize and recommend opportunities for improvement. Responsible for daily operations including assigning, directing, completing, and monitoring work and projects. Provides staff oversight, mentoring, and evaluation and possesses specialized knowledge and skill related to food production and distribution. This position will work closely with the leadership team to ensure that our strategic and operational objectives are met.
A Sample of the Role:
- Ensure products are produced within spec, based on customer requirements. Monitor and report product quality, usage, waste, product counts, and weights to assure performance and attainment.
- Promptly respond to and address deviations of products specs and communicate with supporting departments in real time to ensure effective resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all food and safety regulatory bodies and procedures, including USDA, FDA, GMP, and OSHA. Identify issues, problems, and solutions in areas of safety, quality, and production. Partner with the compliance team as needed.
- Monitor work order process to maintain quality and ensure timely completion. Use continuous improvement tools to identify and recommend cost reduction strategies, minimize downtime, improve quality, reduce scrap, and meet efficiency goals and delivery targets.
- Work cooperatively with production leadership and other departments to establish priorities, develop plans, and set goals of the repack department.
- Coordinate schedules, set priorities, and direct the work of employees; provide timely coaching and performance evaluations; assist in selecting department personnel. Ensure proper employee relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
- Onboard, develop, and train leads and team members. Identify and address training needs. Develop and empower team members to drive continuous improvement and proactive problem solvers.
- Review, prepare, maintain, various documents and operational reports. Ensure records are timely, accurate, and complete.
- Walk the floor with purpose and continuously engage team members through the shift. Coach employees and escalates situations as necessary to leadership.
- Maximize department resources to achieve desired business results.
- Performs other duties as required.
Your Natural Ingredients to Win:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. Advanced degree is preferred in manufacturing, business administration, management, or manufacturing and industrial technology.
- Three to five years of hands‑on supervisory experience, including motivating and training others.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean methodologies and processes. Proven expertise in implementing Lean tools and strategies preferred.
- Knowledge of training and supervisory techniques and employee policies and procedures. Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, scheduling, directing, and coordinating work activities.
- Be detail‑oriented, honest, direct, and able to handle more than one task at a time while managing one’s time effectively and maintaining a strong work ethic.
- Able to follow established procedures and carry out complex duties including Sanitation and Quality policies and procedures, with minimal supervision. Able to assess and troubleshoot problems and take appropriate corrective action.
- Able to work as a team member and establish effective and cooperative working relationships by using tact, good judgement, and resourcefulness.
- Able to take direction and follow established procedures and carry out duties with minimal supervision. Possesses self-supervising attributes and a positive, congenial attitude.
- Able to think strategically, learn about diverse company operations and processes; skilled in problem‑solving.
- Able to gather and analyze data for the purpose of preparing accurate and timely reports, recommendations, and responses to requests for information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to successfully collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and interact with internal and external contacts.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of modern office equipment, technology, and software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office). Ability to learn new programs and technology as needed, related to areas of responsibility.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Skilled in planning, organizing, coordinating, and scheduling resources and activities.
- Able to prioritize work effectively within deadlines, under stress, and with changing work priorities. Able to work any shift and schedule as necessary in response to the needs of the department.
