Job summary

The Dixon Group, a long-established manufacturing company based in Winchester, VA, seeks a Production Scheduler to plan and coordinate shop floor operations across multiple departments. You will manage bills of materials, routers, and cost data within our DDS system while ensuring timely processing of orders and inquiries.

Ideal candidates have a background in manufacturing or production planning, strong Excel and ERP skills, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Background in manufacturing, production planning, customer service, or similar dynamic environment.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft 365; ERP systems experience a plus.
  • Experience in production scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically schedule and coordinate shop floor operations across multiple departments to ensure smooth production.
  • Oversee and maintain Bills of Materials, routers, and cost data in our DDS system.
  • Collaborate with planning team to respond to client inquiries and process orders.
  • Partner with Engineering, Planning, and Customer Service to cost new parts for client quotes.
  • Develop and adjust production schedules based on orders, forecasts, and priorities.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Sales to align schedules with capacity and demand.
  • Monitor production progress and resolve scheduling conflicts or constraints.
  • Create and maintain factory orders, routings, and production documentation.
  • Analyze material availability and inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders to vendors; maintain vendor pricing and supply chain accuracy.
  • Utilize scheduling and ERP systems to track timelines, status, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare production and scheduling reports for management.
  • Provide back-up support to front desk operations as needed.

Production Scheduler
Location: 325 Arbor Court, Winchester, VA, 22602
Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00/Hour

What You'll Do:
  • Strategically schedule and coordinate shop floor operations across multiple departments to ensure smooth and efficient production.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate Bills of Materials, manufacturing routers, and detailed cost data within our DDS system.
  • Collaborate closely with the planning team to quickly respond to client inquiries and process new orders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Planning, and Customer Service to develop, evaluate and accurately cost new parts for client quotes.
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to align schedules with capacity and demand.
  • Monitor production progress and proactively resolve scheduling conflicts or constraints.
  • Create and maintain factory orders, routings, and production documentation.
  • Analyze material availability and inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders to domestic and international vendors, ensuring timely acknowledgment.
  • Maintain vendor pricing and support supply chain accuracy.
  • Utilize scheduling and ERP systems to track timelines, status, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare production and scheduling reports for management review.
  • Provide back-up support to front desk operations as needed (including phone and visitor reception).
What We're Looking For:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A proven background in manufacturing, production planning, customer service or a similar dynamic environment.
  • Strong computer skills with solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365. Previous experience navigating ERP systems is a major plus.
  • Prior experience in production scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Strong Excel skills are required).
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
