Job summary

The Dixon Group is seeking a detail-oriented Production Scheduler to balance customer demand, capacity, and material availability for on-time delivery. This role supports cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Located in Winchester, VA, with a 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM shift and a pay range of $20.00-$25.00 per hour. The company emphasizes veteran support and equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Manufacturing background or experience in production planning, customer service, or similar dynamic environment is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft 365; ERP navigation is a plus.
  • Experience in production scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically schedule shop floor operations across departments to ensure production efficiency.
  • Maintain Bills of Materials, routers, and cost data in the DDS system.
  • Collaborate with planning to respond to client inquiries and process new orders.
  • Cost new parts for client quotes with Engineering, Planning, and Customer Service.
  • Develop and adjust production schedules based on orders, forecasts, and priorities.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Sales to align schedules with capacity and demand.
  • Monitor production progress and resolve scheduling conflicts or constraints.
  • Create and maintain factory orders, routings, and production documentation.
  • Analyze material availability and inventory to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders to vendors; maintain pricing and supply chain accuracy.
  • Utilize scheduling and ERP systems to track timelines, status, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare production and scheduling reports for management review.
  • Provide back-up support to front desk operations as needed.

The Dixon Group is seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Production Scheduler to join our team! What You'll Do:
  • Strategically schedule and coordinate shop floor operations across multiple departments to ensure smooth and efficient production.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate Bills of Materials, manufacturing routers, and detailed cost data within our DDS system.
  • Collaborate closely with the planning team to quickly respond to client inquiries and process new orders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Planning, and Customer Service to develop, evaluate and accurately cost new parts for client quotes.
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to align schedules with capacity and demand.
  • Monitor production progress and proactively resolve scheduling conflicts or constraints.
  • Create and maintain factory orders, routings, and production documentation.
  • Analyze material availability and inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders to domestic and international vendors, ensuring timely acknowledgment.
  • Maintain vendor pricing and support supply chain accuracy.
  • Utilize scheduling and ERP systems to track timelines, status, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare production and scheduling reports for management review.
  • Provide back‑up support to front desk operations as needed (including phone and visitor reception).
What We're Looking For:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A proven background in manufacturing, production planning, customer service or a similar dynamic environment.
  • Strong computer skills with solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365. Previous experience navigating ERP systems is a major plus.
  • Prior experience in production scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Strong Excel skills are required).
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, attention to detail, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
