Job summary

HANWHA PHILLY SHIPYARD, INC. is seeking a skilled Scheduling Engineer to develop and manage project schedules for shipbuilding initiatives, coordinating with planning, production, and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes experience with Primavera P6, SAP, and MS Project, plus strong communication and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced industrial environment. Onsite, full-time position with safety responsibilities.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Engineering or Naval Architecture preferred.
• Experience in shipbuilding or fabrication industries preferred.
• Planning experience in manufacturing industries preferred.
• Knowledge of critical paths, bottlenecks and throughput constraints.
• Familiarity with shipbuilding processes and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain & follow up Phase Schedules for Shipbuilding projects based on resource availability, production capacity and timelines.
• Liaise with planning and production teams to align schedules with operational capabilities.
• Develop schedule performance reports (schedule status, productivity).
• Participate in development and training of scheduling setup (Primavera P6 & SAP) to ensure data integrity for management reports.
• Perform other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed.
• Prepare, maintain & follow up Phase Schedules for Shipbuilding projects based on resource availability , production capacity and project timelines.
• Conduct thorough assessments of workforce, equipment, and material availability to inform realistic scheduling decisions.
• Liaise with planning and production teams to align schedules with operational capabilities and ensure smooth workflow across departments.
• Active participation to development & internal training of HPSI scheduling set-up (Primavera P6 & SAP) to ensure accuracy and data integrity for all related management reports.
• Development of Schedule performance reports (schedule status, productivity, etc.) together with Planning Reports Analyst.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• BS or MS (Emphasis on Engineering or Naval Architecture) preferred
• Experience in shipbuilding or other fabrication industries preferred
• Planning experience in manufacturing industries preferred
• Knowledge/experience of modern planning practices – critical paths, bottlenecks throughput restrictions, etc.
• Knowledge/experience of modern shipbuilding process and terminology preferred
• Knowledge experience of productive work methods, capability to make productivity/efficiency comparisons preferred
• Knowledge/experience planning / ERP systems - Primavera P6, MS Project and SAP (preferred)
• Other software skills - MS Office, Autocad (preferred)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
