Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard is seeking a Production Support Coordinator (Marine Engineer / Test & Commissioning) to assist production teams with systems, installation activities, and coordination across departments. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement within a large industrial environment.

The candidate should have an engineering background, ERP familiarity (SAP/Oracle), and the ability to read drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

  • Degree from a Maritime Academy or in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures, with the ability to support and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, installation procedures, and equipment documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support production teams with operational processes, production systems, and major machinery equipment installation activities.
  • Review, validate, and maintain production labor and production system data, including work order charging, timekeeping records, schedules, and related SAP and non-SAP information.
  • Review machinery installation methods, procedures, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements prior to execution to identify potential technical, quality, and constructability issues.
  • Support and oversee major machinery installation activities, including shafting, alignment, inspection, and testing, and assist with initiatives to expand in-house installation capabilities.
  • Provide technical support to Production during field execution and coordinate the resolution of machinery installation, alignment, quality, and other production-related issues.
  • Conduct and support quality inspections to verify machinery installation accuracy and compliance with applicable drawings, specifications, procedures, quality standards, and classification requirements.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Finance, IT, Security, vendors, classification societies, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to investigate and resolve operational, technical, system, scheduling, and quality-related issues.
  • Assist with production system implementation, shop-floor integration, system testing, validation, go-live activities, and post go-live operational support.
  • Support workforce scheduling, timekeeping, labor reporting, and payroll-related data reconciliation, including shift changes, overtime scheduling, work order charging, schedule maintenance, and resolution of data discrepancies.
  • Assist end-user training, system adoption, and troubleshooting of basic production system-related issues.
  • Identify and support process improvement opportunities to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and consistency across production and machinery installation activities.
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of HPSI machinery installation and quality standards, including consistent criteria for installation, alignment, inspection, testing, and workmanship.
  • Participate in shipbuilding projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams to support field execution, standardization initiatives, technical capability development, and project progress.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This is not a traditional IT support position. Instead, the role focuses on supporting production system usage, process improvement initiatives, operational coordination, user training, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented, and interested in learning how production operations and systems work together in a large industrial setting.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Follow all Hanwha safety procedures, policies, and regulations and support compliance with HSE requirements during production and machinery installation activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY

Responsible for receiving advance training to support the implementation of new systems such as production control and performance tracking, and for providing guidance and training to Production Supervisors on system usage.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Degree from a Maritime Academy or in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures, with the ability to support and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, installation procedures, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong understanding of production processes and shop-floor operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle preferred.
  • Shipbuilding experience involving propulsion equipment, shafting, or other major machinery equipment preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate issue resolution across multiple departments.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
