Job summary

Nubank in Miami seeks a Senior Reliability Engineer to ensure production systems are reliable, scalable, and operating with excellence. You will define and uphold SLOs/SLIs, drive observability, and own incident response, while reducing toil and improving tooling and release safety.

The role collaborates with product, platform, security, and other engineers to raise the bar and mentor others. Hybrid work Model: 2–3 days in office.

Qualifications

• Track record of owning services in production with reliability focus.
• Experience defining and operating against SLOs/SLIs and using error budgets to influence decisions.
• Experience leading incident response and postmortems that drive durable improvements.
• Hands-on observability tooling experience for diagnosing production issues.
• Deep system design experience across distributed services and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Define and operate against SLOs. Establish meaningful SLIs with product/engineering partners and use error budgets for prioritization.
• Build the observability layer: metrics, logs, traces, and alerting. Push instrumentation upstream.
• Lead incident response as incident commander and drive blameless postmortems.
• Reduce toil through automation, self-healing behavior, and better tooling.
• Production hardening: stress-test designs, handle partial failure, and scale safely.
• Make changes safe and fast with progressive delivery and tested migrations.
• Improve developer experience by removing operational friction and filling tooling gaps.
• Partner across disciplines with product, security, and other teams.
• Raise engineering bar by mentoring and setting standards.
