Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and release of new gasoline engines. The role requires strong CAD skills, CAE experience, and the ability to drive cross-functional teams from concept through launch.

You will own engine assembly 3D models, manage CPMT activities, and coordinate with suppliers to resolve design and quality issues. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years Design and Release experience.
  • 6+ years CAD experience (CATIA, NX, CREO or similar).
  • Technical expertise with gasoline internal combustion engines (ICE).
  • Experience with base engine dynamometer testing.
  • Experience with CAE methodologies (1D, 3D, FEA, CFD).
  • Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership ability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of a new engine design from concept to launch.
  • Collaborate with design, powertrain, purchasing, and finance for program delivery.
  • Lead component design and release activities and own 3D models for engine assembly.
  • Lead CP MT activities and manage WERS alerts and issue resolution.
  • Interface with CAE resources for structural, thermal, and CFD analyses.
  • Develop and approve DVPs and oversee testing for validation.
  • Lead CPMT, FEDE, ESOW, DFMEA, PPAP, and related quality documents.
  • Support supplier teams and launch activities to meet program requirements.

Job description

  • Manage all aspects of a new engine design from concept to launch
  • Work closely with component design and release engineers, powertrain and vehicle engineers, purchasing, and finance to handle overall program delivery
  • Lead component design and release activities
  • Own the 3D models for the entire engine assembly
  • Lead sub-system Component Program Module Team (CPMT) activities
  • Lead WERS alerts, concerns, and notice processing
  • Lead resolution of major design, manufacturing, program, and launch issues
  • Lead management of casting and machining suppliers for the cylinder block and similar components
  • Collaborate with CAE resources on structural, thermal, and CFD analysis
  • Create, complete, and approve DVPs and oversee testing for robust validation
  • Lead development of CPMT and quality documents, including FEDE, ESOW, DFMEA, PTDV, e3P, SCCAFs, Global Integrator, OPTIX, PPAP, and 543 Chart
  • Lead program meetings, including EPMT, Design Review, DPMT, and Change Control
  • Work with suppliers, Supplier Technical Assistance, and launch teams to support program requirements and resolve quality issues
  • Interface with the engine dynamometer testing team
  • Interface with purchasing, mating components, calibration, and manufacturing teams
  • Support prototype engine build Program Attribute Team activities, including BOM, inspection, and prototype fit reviews
  • Support domestic and international travel when required
Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 6+ years Design and Release Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in CAD (CATIA, NX, CREO, or similar)
  • Technical expertise with Gasoline Internal Combustion Engines (ICE)
  • Experience with base engine dynamometer testing
  • Experience with CAE Simulation Methodologies (1D, 3D, FEA, CFD)
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong Leadership ability
  • Working-level CAD experience
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to support domestic and international travel when required
