Job summary

Laitram LLC in New Orleans, LA seeks a Production Planning Supervisor to lead a 6–8 person team focused on accurate and timely order processing, scheduling, and capacity planning. You will drive data-driven improvements across operations to ensure on-time delivery and continuous improvement.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in manufacturing leadership, with at least 2 years supervising others and experience in Oracle ERP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or related field; minimum 5 years manufacturing leadership.
• At least 2 years of direct supervisory experience in a production/planing environment.
• Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and data-driven decision making.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead Production Control team of 6–8 to ensure timely order processing, scheduling, and fulfillment.
• Analyze workflows and capacity constraints; identify bottlenecks and implement throughput improvements.
• Collaborate with production, planning, and inventory teams to close gaps in order flow.
• Develop and maintain dynamic production schedules aligned with demand and resources.
• Establish supplier partnerships to enhance flexibility and in-house manufacturing.
• Communicate delivery changes due to delays or shortages with stakeholders and customers.
• Forecast demand for Machine Shop, align with production capabilities and inventory planning.
• Coach team members, conduct evaluations, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Production Control team to ensure timely and accurate order processing, scheduling, and fulfillment aligned with customer delivery expectations.
• Analyze production workflows and capacity constraints to identify bottlenecks and implement data-driven solutions that improve throughput and reduce lead times.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, planning, and inventory teams to identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement in order flow and prioritization.
• Develop and maintain a dynamic production schedule that aligns with customer demand, resource availability, and operational constraints.
• Establish supplier partnerships that enhance production flexibility and supplement in-house manufacturing efforts.
• Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders and customers regarding delivery changes due to production delays, inventory shortages, or equipment issues.
• Review and forecast customer demand for the Machine Shop, ensuring alignment with production capabilities and inventory planning.
• Provide coaching and feedback to team members, conduct performance evaluations, and support career development in alignment with the Laitram Continuous Improvement Program.
• Foster a culture of accountability and collaboration through clear communication, mentorship, and team engagement.
• Partner with Manufacturing Supervisors and other stakeholders to support data-driven decisions related to labor allocation, equipment utilization, and process optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering and/or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, project management, or customer service leadership.
• At least 2 years of direct supervisory experience.
• Experience working in an ERP system, Oracle preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and interpret complex data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational skills with a track record of successfully executing key initiatives.
• Demonstrated structured and methodical approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in manufacturing analysis or project management.
• Familiarity with LEAN principles and their practical application.
• Hands-on experience in machine shop, metal fabrication, or production environments.
• Prior leadership in shipping, receiving, or production planning operations.
• Experience with forecasting in a manufacturing or production environment
