Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a Senior Planning and Production Controller to direct production schedules for the Virginia Class Submarine program at the Groton/New London facilities, coordinating with EB, NNS and various departments to maintain steady material flow and readiness for ship builds.

The role requires a deep understanding of the entire build process, strong leadership, and the ability to advise management on design changes, material availability, and production constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of exempt experience required; Master's with 8 years alternative.
• Equivalent qualifications accepted including NNS Apprentice School or NNPS graduates.
• Strong knowledge of shipbuilding operations and production planning.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, issue and control production schedules for Virginia Class Submarine program.
• Coordinate with materials, shop load and inventory to ensure timely deliveries.
• Advise management on status of design work, material availability and production issues.
• Schedule equipment and personnel and process design changes with EB and NNS Program Offices.
• Interdepartmental coordination with QA, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering and logistics.
