Job summary

Makesy is seeking a Production Planning Manager with an engineer’s mindset to own labor efficiency on the production floor. You will build time studies, plan headcount against forecast, and provide real-time visibility into labor allocation and causes.

You’ll lead staffing, scheduling, and measurement of production labor, drive continuous improvement to reduce overtime, and ensure orders ship on time while staying in stock.

Qualifications

• Engineering mindset with time studies, process mapping, root-cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making; industrial engineering background a strong plus.
• Proven experience managing hourly production labor of 75-100+ in manufacturing/production, ideally with direct P&L or labor-cost accountability.
• Track record of reducing overtime and improving labor efficiency, not just reporting on it.
• High personal standards and low tolerance for 'that’s just how we’ve always done it'—enforce process because it matters.
• Strong Excel/data skills; experience with ERP/inventory systems (NetSuite a plus) and Shopify order flow is a bonus.
• Direct, clear communicator who can hold people accountable.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, shifting environment and proactive in communicating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Time studies & standards: Build and maintain accurate time studies for every production process and use them as staffing baselines.
• Labor planning: Proactively plan headcount and shifts against forecasts — weeks ahead; overtime should be exception.
• Accountability to plan: Track actual labor hours by line/shift/SKU; own the variance and report on it.
• Labor visibility: Stand up dashboards and data pulls (NetSuite/Shopify) to show real-time labor allocation.
• Floor leadership: Manage production leads and line staff with a standards-first approach.
• Continuous improvement: Identify and fix root causes of overtime and labor waste using data.
• On-time delivery & fulfillment: Ensure orders ship on schedule and stock levels stay in range.
