Job summary

Techniplas in Nashotah, WI is seeking a Material Planner to develop schedules and procure materials ensuring 100% on-time deliveries; you will coordinate with internal and external partners, manage MRP-driven purchase orders, and maintain supplier relationships.

The role requires strong data entry, ERP/MRP experience, and proficiency with MS Office; you will lead daily meetings, optimize lot sizes, lead times, and reorder points to sustain supply chain performance.

Qualifications

• High School and/or technical school graduate with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
• It is highly preferred to have several years of related Materials/Production Control experience.
• Must work independently receiving a minimum of detailed supervision and guidance.
• Data entry experience.
• ERP experience preferred.
• Able to work in a fast paced and time constrained environment.
• Knowledge of the materials purchased, programs, and procedures related to the work of the Supply Chain department.
• Able to communicate with all levels of management.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products required i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate schedules to meet customer delivery deadlines.

• Collaborate with Toolroom for tooling repairs and changeovers.
• Backup to Planner/Scheduler duties.
• Participate in physical inventory.
• Backup to Buyer: issue purchase orders and adjust orders.
• Design and monitor cost-savings programs in Planning.
• Ensure timely delivery with follow-up and expediting as needed.
• Update supplier portals.
• Handle customer EDI and manual order entry.
• Forecast production needs with planners, customers, and operations.
• Prioritize among customers when labor or materials have deadlines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The primary function of the position is to prepare a schedule and procure materials that will enable 100% on time deliveries. This position will remain in constant contact with internal customers and external suppliers regarding status of orders, delivery dates, purchasing components using MRP, and any other questions or concerns.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work with staff throughout the organization to develop a sense of urgency to meet customer delivery schedules. Coordinate information and activities to ensure customer requirement dates are understood and reflected accurately in schedules.
• Analyze order requests based on material availability, routing specifications, alternative routings, and demonstrated capacity.
• Lead daily production meeting and provide a list of priority tasks such as setups, tool repairs, tool changeovers, and operator requirements.
• Create work orders through the MRP system based on forecast and sales orders. Schedule the orders in a sequence that considers tooling setups, changeovers, same materials, similar secondary equipment, and alternate work centers.
• Work with quality department and project engineers to resolve issues leading to parts with on hold status or corrective actions.
• Schedule samplings as requested by project engineers and sales representatives in a timely fashion.
• Attend all supplier meetings related to scheduling of product and delivery performance.
• Works to establish appropriate planning parameters, such as:
• Lot sizes
• Minimum order quantities
• Lead times
• Re-order points
• Purchasing/Vendor notes
• Work with the Toolroom to ensure timely processing of tooling repairs and changeovers.
• Act as a backup to other Planner/Schedulers.
• Participate in all functions of physical inventory.
• Act as a backup to Buyer: Prepare, review, and issues purchase orders and makes the necessary changes to existing orders to reflect actual product requirement needs.
• Design, implement, and monitor on a consecutive basis outcomes of cost savings programs related to Planning.
• Ensure timely delivery by providing follow-up measures and expedite vendor deliveries as necessary.
• Responsible for updating and maintaining all supplier portals.
• Responsible for customer EDI and manual Order Entry.
• Work with planners, customers, and operations to forecast production needs
• Determine priorities between customers when labor or raw material have competing deadlines.
• Complete and perform other duties/tasks as may be assigned.
